Music City Bowl Ticket Update

Or perhaps we're in the midst of an ultra long economic wasteland where nearly 1 in 5 people is unemployed/underemployed and many fans look at the $500 to head to Nashville for a couple days and decide it's not in their best interest to go.

They obviously must be having trouble selling them, as I have received a call asking did I want tickets or any family members, friends or co-workers.

Wow... could be smallest crowd in Music City Bowl history. Ouch.

Huh?

Ticket sales: Music City Bowl officials report total ticket sales are approaching 55,000 for Friday’s game.

The smallest was in 2002, when 39,183 attended the Arkansas-Minnesota game.

Oops, just saw the official stats for Wake (7k) and Miss St (14k). Wasn't factoring in the apparently 34k of additional ticket sales? Nice surprise. I still wish we'd beaten MSU in the sales battle though.

Ideally, sure, that'd be nice. However, that's a pretty unreasonable aspiration.

They have 20,000+ undergrad - the fact that we have sold half as many as them is a win.

If we can somehow eek out 40% of the crowd, I would be excited. 30% is more likely.

If there are 55ktons at the game it will be extremely impressive. NCSU just had that in Charlotte so WF getting that in Nashville would be really good

There might be 50,000 at the game, but I wouldn't expect more than 10 - 15 thousand Wake fans.

is it too late to buy lower level tix through the school? anyone got a link pr a phone number to call? need 5.

Our group has 2 great lowers available. Section 136 (40 yd line) 30 rows up.

PM for details

Wake selling 7000 is not a win. It's probably a tie. Not embarrassing, but also not going to help us next year.

In comparison to the pitiful sales of Clemson and others, we're not doing too bad, but unfortunately the system is built on perception, not relativity. We're not going to change any perceptions selling 70% of our allotment to an attractive Music City Bowl.

This entire bowl system has turned into a shameless racket where No-Name Bowls invite schools and then expect the fans of the schools to buy tickets at obscenely high prices, compared to what's available on the internet.

If the fans of each school don't cough it up big-time, then they're accused of "not traveling well". What a load of crap.

Hard to fault WF fans for not buying more tix given the economy and the team's performance down the stretch. The Vandy game left a bad taste in a lot of fans' mouths.

That said, no matter how well we "travel" in a given year we will always get screwed if a bowl isn't forced to choose us.
