I generally agree Texas, but I'd add the following:
I could be wrong, but I think [Redacted] was an advance scout, not a college scout. As such, he really wasn't tasked with "identifying" college talent so much as watching players on other NBA teams and documenting their tendencies, habits, etc. for future matchups. Obviously that experience would help him identify talent, too, but I think it's worth noting.
And it should go without saying that scouting is just one component of the broader notion of "recruiting." Whether [Redacted] is correct in thinking Andre Washington will be a good college center is one thing; whether WF should use one of its (few) available scholarships on him vis-a-vis every other prospect is entirely another and requires consideration of a host of other basketball and non-basketball related factors.
Either way, the fact that scouts and recruiting analysts are starting to like CMM, Rountree, and Washington as much as [Redacted] does should only make us more excited for the future.
Can't disagree with any of this. The recruiting/scouting distinction is a very clear one, and it's the question for which we're still waiting an answer.
