NFL Playoffs Thread

Eli is literally the luckiest QB in history. First, he was born into the Manning family which gave him a lot more rope in his career which he definitely needed. He has spent his whole career throwing balls up for grabs and having receivers bail him out. It started with Plaxico. Tyree made the literally 1 in 100 catch. Nicks on the Hail Mary. He isn't half the qb Peyton is, or Brady, Brees or Rogers. Yes I know they're great, but a lot of people want to put him in that category. Despite all that, I'm happy. I had the Giants +2 1/2 and I had the under.

I know the replies will focus on the Eagles as though that matters when assessing a qb. No big deal.

Holy fuck, the guy threw for over 300 yards against the best defense in the NFL in horrendous conditions. He has won more road playoff games than any QB in NFL history. What more do you want? Did you not see the throw to Cruz where he basically pulled him away from coverage with the pass, while on the run? Brady can't make that throw while moving. I'm pretty sure Brees or Rogers would each trade their regular season stats to be where Eli is right now. Watch any NFL game and you'll see dropped INTs and some "lucky" plays that go the QBs way.

Yes, 316 yards, 2TDs, 0 INTs against the NFL's best defense, on the road, in awful conditions.

Tom Brady threw for 239 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INTs at home against a worse defense. But you're more impressed with him?

Last week Aaron Rogers through for 264 yards 2TDs and 1 INT on 46 attempts at home against a worse defense. But you're more impressed with him?
 
I don't see too many people saying Eli is in that first tier but I think there are only five QBs I'd rather have. Four if his brother is unhealthy.

Who was the qb when the Giants choked down the stretch the last couple of years? Who was the qb when the Giants choked down the stretch this year? They lost to the woeful skins at home and got beat at home by the Eagles with Vince Young as the qb. VY started 3 games this year and in the other 2 the Eagles got destroyed by the Pats and Seahawks. Eli put up 10 points. So Dallas missed a field goal and 9 wins got into the playoffs. Congrats on the good fortune.

The fact is, the defense won the first SB and the defense is responsible for the Giants having a chance to win another one. If Eli had the Saints or Packers D, they wouldn't have sniffed. 500, let alone the playoffs.

The thing is, I don't hate Eli. I actually admire him as a person. I'm glad he's the one benefitting from good fortune as opposed to a jackass. Just rebutting the over the top praise he gets as an "elite"qb. More like e"lite" IMO.

Not bitter moon, I'm in a playoff pool with 31 others - pick winners against the spread and over unders. I lead by one at 16-4 (I've hit all 10 over unders and 6-4 on the games) with just the S B to go. I've picked the Giants each week, so I'm actually quite happy with their performance.

As someone who doesn't have a rooting interest one way or the other in this discussion, you're sounding an awful lot like a whining douchey eagles fan.
