Lengthy [Redacted] Interview with Gold Rush

Maybe it is just me but I see a lot of evidence that Wellman and Bz are both control freaks with big egos. They want players more in their image white or black. I just want to compete with Duke and UNC. Our players have never matched up well with the student body and never will if we want to win. We have to compromise on some things that doesn't mean we won't run a clean program.

I don't know about this. Maybe RJ can chime in, but I feel like a lot of the athletes are less like the rest of the student body now then they were in his day.

I would have liked to have seen your team become more multicultural in Bzz's first season. In other words I would have liked for you to have taken Javi Gonzalez and Vanderburg (counting him as Polynesian since he's Australian and from the looks of that paper that got leaked can't speak English. Must've come out as an Albino Polynesian)

I registered this name before I realized there was an emoticon. I was pleasantly surprised to have the perfect avatar right there.

On a side note... I'm not saying this is what we are doing, or even saying that this is possible to a large extent... but would you rather have 4 years of Trevor Booker or 2 years of AFA? Would you rather have 4 years of Nolan Smith or 2 years of CP? Honest question as I can see an argument for each. And this is not an indictment in any way on CP or AFA, I love those guys to death and they both made the right decision leaving early, just wondering on a more philosophical level which type of player you'd rather have.

I would rather have had 4 years of Trevor Booker, because he did more in 4 years than AFA did in 2, statistically wise. I would rather have CP3 than Nolan because Chris Paul has done more for Wake since he left, than he did while he was here, from a PR standpoint.

"The discipline that had been missing off the court has been re-established. Going to class; being respectful of tutors; respectful of students, staff and administration. That's a huge priority because the discipline off the court goes hand in hand with the discipline on the court."

We won the same amount of postseason games this year as we did when we had Teague, Johnson, and Aminu on the floor together.

I'd give the season an F all around - to the coaches, to Wellman, to the fans, to the players not named McKie...

But whatever, everyone with any basketball sense knew we'd suck this year. [Redacted] thinks it's worth giving Nikita minutes when he's shooting backward spinning reverse layups and fouling every 32 seconds? Oh well.

The bar is still tournament bound in year 3. He can send our team out and have them do pushups while the opposing team does layup drills for all I care. Year 3, tournament, clear upward trajectory, back to Wake Forest basketball standards.

If we're not there, fire him and give all that talent to another coach. You gotta assume by that point at least we'll have some talented, experienced players and we'd look pretty inviting to prospective coaches.

Yeah, that's 1 of my favorite quotes. I'm cool with and support discipline off the court. I seriously strongly support that. But I wonder if Bz can tell us where our discipline on the court was this past season. Didn't see much motivation either.

And I think the "culture is good" tag needs an ", mkay" after it.

DC -- if we get to 10 wins or fewer and encounter blow out losses again should Buzz get that 3rd year?

DC nailed it. And if that's not Wellman's plan, he should be fired.

PosRep...Exactly how I feel.

What is funny to me is that a lot of the "buzzzzz waiters" said that we could not judge bzzz until at least valentines day (I specifically remember Jbone saying this). Well, February came and went and we saw no improvement. Now they are saying we can't judge him until 2-3 years. Color me unimpressed. He is a career scout mascaradeing as a head coach. Get him the fuck out of here and give me back my program.

I still can't get the fact that he lied to his Airforce team TO THEIR FACES out of my head.

ETS: It is not my program...it is our program and he is messing it up

That was just JayBone. I always said that 2-3 years was the benchmark. I think that most BuzzWaiters have said 2-3 years.

But now, correct me if I am wrong, but JBone is now in the give him 2-3 years camp. Bone, you are free to contradict me and If i am wrong, I am sorry....however, I don't think you are an "outer...contrary to the evidence since february."

Interesting. Here is your post from a few days ago:

"In this thread we lay out out expectations (or opinions) record-wise for the next 3 years. Assume 30 games per year and state post-season expectations as well. This will be a good thread to search in the future...

2011-2012 14-16 (5-11)...no postseason

2012-2013 17-13 (7-9)....NIT

2013-2014 21-9 (9-7)....NCAA"

So is it year 3 or year 4?

Will we ever concede that Bz is our coach and pull for his success?

Or, will some of us hope for another miserable season in order to argue more loudly for his removal?

It is really difficult to pull for Wake to succeed while also pulling for Bz to fail.

Also, I would like to add my 2 Cents on the categories of Bzzzz. (I am fully cognizant that I am biased)

1) Buzzzz out: The fans that saw from the get go that this was a bad hire...however, most of us were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. (a UNC buddy asked what the hell...I told him that I trusted Ron and said I was not expecting much this season other than improvement...which was lacking under Dino.) And we saw NO improvement (save some restraint from JTT and I can tell a guy not to shoot every time he gets the ball...)

2) Buzzzzzwait: They are just buzzzin without the guts to say so. If they had any cojones, they could see that this guy is a HORRIBLE head coach. They wax and wane and equivocate about bzzzz's successes and dismiss his obvious failures. They are the kings of Culture Change as something to hang their hats on because there is nothing tangible to say Bzzzz is anything other than an abject failure.

3) Bzzzzzzin: At least I can have some respect for this crowd. At least they are honest. They will support anyone who coaches a WFU team (Including Manson/Hiltler/Stalin/Mao). All they need is their marching orders (or in the case of Mao, Long Marching orders!), and to go forth and proclaim this as the next best era of Wake Sports.

end Jagger fueled rant!

This isn't true at all. Most BuzzWaiters do not dismiss his failures. I have said several times this thread that he had a bad year. I believe that he can turn it around.

It is true that I believe establishing a new culture will help us in a long run.

My response above.

Whoops, I mean year 4. I see very little possibility we can make it back to the NCAA Tournament in two years unless if we have a phenomenal turnaround.
