The Official OGBoards Running (and Cycling) Thread: (Insert Season Here)

Haha way to go brasky. I also set a new 10k PR even though I was having terrible stomach cramps the last half of the race. The start time being pushed back an hour totally threw me off. And by the time I got to downtown it was wayyy hot and humid.

congrats on the bridge run results, brasky and wakeup!

i don't know if y'all have been following the search, but the guy known in "born to run" as caballo blanco disappeared a few days ago when he went out for a run in new mexico. his body just turned up. no cause of death known yet, but they said there were no obvious signs of trauma.

Video on Moses Mosop's training in Kenya for the Rotterdam marathon.

Wow. Can you imagine running in these conditions, let alone that pace? Most of us would be out by the first 5k. Damn.

1:26:09 unofficial at the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler this morning. So many people.

Tried to run tangents. Result: 10.13. Super tangent fail there.

I know this is just a pittance to most of you, but today is the 40th day of Lent and I completed my self-imposed challenge of running 100 miles in 40 days. The total through 40 days is 105 miles. I suppose I've got a week left for some bonus mileage.

my anger at the sky was translated into a killer run today in my new running hat (to shield my face from pellet dagger rain)... 4 miles at 8:30, which I know is 'slow' on here but fast for me right now!

So my girlfriend wants me to run a 10K with her and one of her friends (also female). I'm a good athlete but never really been into running. Anyone with some high level advice on this? How long do I need to train for?

I assured her that I could beat her in said race so if she does beat me I owe her a trip to the spa.

Depends on her fitness level. How fast could she run said 10k?

You should be in 10k shape after a few weeks of running if you are a good athlete.

Awesome (but very hilly) 11 mile run in Umstead park this am... Got to see some of the folks struggling to finish the Umstead 100 (that started Sat. morning at 6am - those people are nuts!).

Awesome. That's what I was hoping. We are thinking of possibly doing one the second weekend of June.

I don't think she'll be very fast. She just runs more frequently than I do so in terms of endurance she should have an advantage.

I've seen that a '04 Wake grad has been tearing up some races. Ankur Tarneja. He recently won the LA 5K with a blistering pace. I've seen him top 10 for a quite a few other races.

I wish they told what pace they were running in those training clips - they look fast but they run so smoothly I would bet that they are running even faster than it looks! Also, I noted that they appeared to be doing intervals at one point - I wonder what pace those intervals are at!?

Gotta be around 5:00-5:30 pace.

March Mileage: 220

easily my highest month ever. I figure April will be down with tapering in the last few weeks. Can't believe The Pig is just about a month away.

alright, inspired by BDer and deachawk's awesome mileage (and today's sunny weather), i am declaring April to be The Month of 100(+) Miles.

If it say it here, there's something to be accountable for.
