Suspension/Arrest Thread (No New News)

Do you guys not know who Deuce is? Read his anonymous-neg-rep fueled meltdown here and then decide how much weight you should give to his opinion.

Seriously, Duke gets a B+ in football? One good year a program does not make. They've been to two bowls since 61. There have been 253 straight AP polls without duke, 13th longest in NCAA. Hell 4 years ago Duke argued any Division 1 football program was equal or better than them, and a judge bought it. Duke is still 4th in state of NC.

THE DEUCE has been a shit poster for as long as I've seen him post on these boards. You'd be better off just ignoring anything he types.

Edit: ogb beat me to it :(

I loved this post though:
Very big win for the DEACS but which program looks to be headed in the right direction?
UNC beats VT by double digits Wake loses 2 straight to Duke and MD

Grobe's comments in that article are fucking stupid. He's really starting to piss me off.

Just what exactly is it in his quotes that's "fucking stupid"? His comments are perfectly reasonable. You sound like a hater digging for something to hate.

"It's not anything I am privileged to talk about,'' Grobe said. "I wouldn't be able to tell you either way.

"Anytime it goes beyond me, if it's either university policy or athletic department policy, then all I can confirm was that it was a violation of either the university policy or the athletic department policy. And in this case it's a violation of athletic department policy.

"And that's as far as I can go.''

"An important part for me is always how do kids handle things like that?'' Grobe said. "I think these kids are very remorseful and feel like they let their team down, and their families. I feel like we'll get a good response, but I expect a good response.

"I expect kids to take responsibility. Going forward I expect great behavior and all those kind of things. I feel like they all are sorry for what happened, so I would not expect anything (but a good response).

"But I lose my patience after awhile. So it needs to be something that I think is helpful.''

It's the last two lines that really piss me off.

A lot of the problems here are the mixed reports about whether or not the roommate thing is true. If it is, most of his comments are complete bullshit. If it's not, then okay, but this stupid shit about the kids having to earn their ways out of Grobe's imaginary doghouse is setting our program back. I think it's pretty unanimous at this point that the kids (well, 5 of them, anyway) were suspended for smoking pot. I'm pissed at the kids for breaking the rules and putting Grobe in this position to begin with, but it's not the sort of thing that's worth harping on for the next few weeks. Shit happened, and it's over now. For Grobe to imply that they have to earn their way back into things just annoys me. It's the same shit we went through last year with J-Roc's toughness/maturity last year. Yeah, the kids need discipline, and sure that's Grobe's job, but at some point you just take the talent and go with it. It's not like we're tOSU or something. For the most part, these are good kids and outside of this weed incident, we've never heard anything to suggest the contrary.

Some people might see his responsibility bullshit as admirable and "doing things the right way", and that's fine. But there's a difference between punishing players for things they've done and setting them back in the long term. Of course, all of this is moot until we see if he does actually hold these guys back.

And as others have said, I'm fucking pissed at how all of this has been handled.

Maybe your style isn't the best way to handle punishments. Having players earn the coach's trust back is not a new idea. The players got in trouble and were suspended a game for it. Maybe 1 of the 6 didn't smoke weed. Just how differently do you think it should have been "handled"? Do you think they should have been suspended for a later game, or for multiple games, or not suspended at all? Seems to me you are taking nothing and making something out of it.

Agree. If you do something this stupid you lose some trust and must earn it back. Wake fans have been pretty vocal on bashing teams for slapping their players on the wrist and then moving on like nothing ever happened.

Two more, per Twitter. Duran Lowe and Devin Bolling.

Grobe has lost control, it seems.

Edit: these are being called indefinite.

So, this is an incident separate from the original one? If the offense happened after the most recent batch of suspensions, that's a special level of stupid.

I assume that new level of stupid is the reason for the indefinite suspension rather than a one gamer.
