Grobe IN or Grobe OUT?

Grobe IN or Grobe OUT?

So you'd also argue that we're even closer to 2-8.

I mean that's always the case with Wake.

Look at season's past, it always seems that we play people close. I am troubled that we've been blown out by more folks than usual this year. I am pissed about losing to shitty MD and Duke teams. But one bad year where things don't go our way and our coaching chokes a couple of times doesn't mean its time for blood.

Let Grobe have at least 2 more seasons, lets see how Tanner does next year and we can talk then...now if he wants to fire Lobo, that's ok w/ me.

It's one freaking year....we haven't lost to Duke in over a decade and rarely get blown out 3 times in one season like we have this year......

Take a look at the prediction thread and there are a lot of 6-6 or 5-7 predictions with very few going above 7-5.....we all thought this would be a .500ish year and it has been....we just don't look as good as you would want a .500 team to look.

This is not "one freaking year." Yeah it's the first time we've lost to Duke in a while, but it goes beyond that. And whose fault is it, exactly, that we were SUPPOSED to be bad this year? We don't have very good recruiting and we don't do very much with the talent we have. We play uninteresting, uninspired, and often embarrassingly bad football. It's just alot of money to spend on a conservative coach whose goal is to keep it close and hope that better teams fuck up enough for us to steal a win, or our conservative play allows us to squeeze out a victory against a truly shitty team.

I personally think that a good portion of that 2.6mil would be better spent building a basketball program that could contend nationally. Doesn't make those of us idiots who think we're overpaying a bit for what we're getting.

"One bad year"

I think you have a short memory.

There are tons of interesting assistants that we could hire for around 1 mil a year. I don't need to do your homework for you, you lazy Democrat.

We could invest the change left over from NOT paying Grobie's inflated salary to pay for an upgrade in basketball. I mean who really gives a shit about football anyway. I am only offended that we spend so much on the average results we get. If we paid 1 million, I wouldn't have a problem with Grobe at all. That is a reasonable amount to pay for a Music City Bowl losing coach.

In conclusion, you are a mongoloid.

forget the other stuff, recruiting, etc. our coaches have been getting badly outcoached on gameday for much more than 1 year.

If you guys want to fire Grobe, good luck to you. Crazy talk.

just curious as to when this poll closed? was it before the state game? any way to reopen it?

I will readily admit that Grobe is being overpaid, and I feel sure that we could hire a coach for considerably less money. However, I seriously doubt that we could hire anyone....anyone....who would match or beat Grobe's overall record so far at Wake Forest. The 2006-08 years were an anomaly for Wake Forest. People may not like to hear that, but it is the truth....backed by about 100 years of history. We won 28 games during those three years. In the 72 years since 1940, WF won more than six games only 6 times: 1944, 1979, 1987, 1992, 1999 & 2002. During that time, we won 3 or fewer games in 29 different years. You can complain about people being "LOWF" until you are blue in the face, but when something has happened for more than 70 years there have to be valid reasons for it. Wake Forest didn't lose all those games for more than 70 years just because they were getting a lot of bad breaks. You can get any coach you want to name and he's not going to win 7-8 consistently at Wake Forest. It hasn't happened in the last 70 years, and it's not going to happen in the next 70 years. That's just the way it is....for all the reasons that you should already know. You can wish that it would happen, of course, but wishing won't make it so. As someone told me a long time ago: "Wish in one hand and shit in the other, and see which one gets full first.

Do you want to bet?

I don't have a lot of money, but I'll happily put $10 on another coach being able to post a 19-29 record overall and 12-20 conference in four years in a down ACC.

Of course, Grobe has to get fired, but should get fired, feel free to take me up on it...

hatch, wellman, grobe, and bz all need to go

grow some stones board of trustees

I'm in on firing Wellman and Buzz.

Hatch I don't know enough about one way or the other.

With Grobe, I would say if be is unwilling to make changes then he needs to go.

Changes must be made to his staff and forced upon him if necessary. If he isn't cool with that, then it's probably time for Jim to pack his bags.

In the 3 losses to FSU, Clemson and ND this year, we have been outscored 132-13.

I was at 2 of those three games. Neither Clemson (42-13) or ND (38-0) were as close as the final score.

Fuck it. Everybody out.

I was talking about his entire body of work at WF....including the 2006-08 years. You can't just cherry pick the worst part of it. I don't think any other coach would have won more games at Wake Forest in the last 11 years than Grobe has won. Put another way, I don't think any other coach would win more games in the next 11 years than Grobe has won in the last 11 years.

I'll put $10 on that should the day come where we can make that bet.
