100 places to eat at now in Dirty South

Pretty solid list. I've been to all of the Charleston restaurants on that list, Scotts BBQ in Hemingway (best BBQ I've ever had) and Tupelo Honey. Austin seems underrepresented.

Washington, DC is not in the south.

I hate 100-page long slideshows. Just give me a text list.

I think you should make time for Uchi if at all possible.

Would have been a much more interesting list if they eliminated D.C. locations

it may not be the South, but the locations in DC are some damn fine restaurants, and some of the best in the country, to boot.

Have you been to Uchiko? How does it compare to Uchi?

I have. Its awesome. I prefer Uchiko actually. It is more adventurous with the food and a bigger restaurant. The food at Uchiko has a lot more of the traditional asian flavors in it too, in my opinion. The biggest downside is the location - it isn't downtown.

Whichever one you go to, the hama chile is a must have.

I went to Uchiko last October - easily one of my top 5 dining experiences. I didn't get a chance to go to Uchi before I stopped traveling to Austin though. I *think* we had the hama chili, but my memory is letting me down so I can't say for sure.

Yeah DC deserves (and has) its own list.

I will never understand the love for the Optimist in the A. Just average in every way.

Headed to Nolya for DSD's bday in Nov. My brother lives in the Quarter. Gonna eat my face off like I was on bath salts.
