'17 Specials & '18 Midterms Thread

Paul Ryan's super PAC released a bunch of ads today, including another attempting to link Brat's opponent to terrorism and one featuring Randy Bryce's brother, who considered running against him. They also announced they are spending $1.5 million against Bryce to hold onto Ryan's seat.

They put out an ad against Mike Bost's opponent for the first time, the district went to Trump by 15 points. That leaves the largest Trump margin in a toss up seat the CLF isn't currently defending as NC-9, where a primary challenger beat the incumbent.

Summary of the attack ads to date:
70 ads in 27 districts
21 districts where there is an R incumbent
4 open, currently R seats
2 open, currently Dem seats (districts Trump won by double digits)
No attack ads in 17 districts currently rated toss up or worse for Rs (7 with incumbents, 10 open)

Ah. There's a number of Democrats running around the country this year with military service backgrounds, which is great. I don't think that Democrats need to be dishonest, but just at least hit back hard at dishonest attacks and hit the weak spots of Republican candidates very hard.

You have to stop kneeling first..

Republican Pete Flores upsets Democrat Pete Gallego in race for Uresti seat

This should be a wake up call, a win in November is far from guaranteed. Granted the race was to replace a Dem who was convicted of fraud, but Dems were happy after their candidates received a combined 59% of the first round of voting. Turnout for both rounds was abysmally low.
