2018-2019 NHL Thread – Thunderstorm Warning

He's leaving so much money. I could see him leaving in 2020 but now- crazy. There's no way he can make this kind of money in Russia is there?
2013-14 $11,300,000
2014-15 $11,300,000
2015-16 $11,600,000
2016-17 $11,800,000
2017-18 $10,000,000
2018-19 $7,000,000
2019-20 $4,000,000
2020-21 $1,000,000
2021-22 $1,000,000
2022-23 $1,000,000
2023-24 $3,000,000
2024-25 $4,000,000
Total $77,000,000

I think they are announcing the deal sometime today, but there has been speculation that it could be for as much as $15-20MM per year. And the tax rate is much lower than in NJ. The KHL has been trying like hell to get a Russian player to choose them over the NHL. He is going to get paid a ton. (Link)

And that’s just the salary. A guy who walked away from the US to play in his home country must be in line for some major endorsement deals.

Wow. So in one year he'll probably earn well over what two years with NJ would take.

I think the ESPN one is awesome. When your only trash talk to another team is about a single playoff series over two years ago, it's kind of lame.

^^including the playoffs over the last two years blues are 10-2 against the sharks so there a little more to the domination story

Dustin Penner to the Ducks for peanuts (basically).

Grabovski and Brunner are still chilling and enjoying their summer, I guess.

The mystery free agent that the Canes were talking about apparently was/is Brendan Morrow. As time goes on, though, it seems less and less likely he will sign in Carolina since they would need to make a trade to make it happen. Seems unlikely they would do that for a one year rental.
