Agreed. Getting people lined up and everything , possible illegal formation and then you have to use the timeout anyways.

I wasn't sure at the time, but it kept the playbook open -- if they spike it there they probably just run a short play to put them on the fringes of FG position, instead of taking a shot down field. Worked out well
 
When is the NFL going to change the overtime rules so that the you can’t have a game end without both teams at least attempting to score?
