2019-20 MLB Hot Stove Thread...

So, the Astros still have a $5 million and 4 draft pick World Series championship and 3 managers have been canned? Cool.

Red Sox will likely get a worse team punishment since it's their second offense. But yeah...

Jessica Mendoza nominated herself for all-time idiot HOF, by calling out Mike Fiers for going public with the Astros cheating: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/jessica-mendoza-mets-adviser-calls-out-sign-stealing-whistleblower-mike-fiers/

Blaming the person (Fiers) that identifies the problem and has the balls to go public with that information (to his peril), rather than those broke the rules. Nice perspective.

BTW, I didn't know that Mendoza works for the Mets. Seems like a conflict of interest for a national broadcaster. She has just jeopardized both of her jobs.

Yeah, she worked for the Mets last year while doing Mets games, and David Ross was getting paid by the Cubs last year as a special assistant or something, while also doing the games. Couple instances of that. Not a great look.

I wonder if all the bad publicity will temporarily affect the push by MLB to contract the minors. Maybe the California congressional delegation will unite behind the Dodgers as victim and lead the effort to yank the anti-trust exemption.

The video of Altuve telling his team to not rip his jersey off because he has a device on has to be enough to suspend him. How do they keep the WS title at this point???

How long do we think Altuve gets suspended? He has to be looking at a year IMO.

In terms of impact on the game this is worse than what some have done to get lifetime bans.

This happens more often than I would've thought, especially with the MLBN guys. Thome has a role with the White Sox. Alex Rodriguez has a role with the Yankees.

Mendoza showing everyone her ass was the epitome of narrow-minded ignorance. The whole "snitches get stitches" mentality in the sport is how MLB ended up with the steroid era.

Sheffield Jr says Beltrans niece is and MLB players burner account 😂

This is definitely worse than steroids. Lots of players coming out and saying that they would rather play juicers than those that know pitches are coming

David Brosius (Scott Brosius' son) out there dropping bombs that Trout is on HGH but gets a waiver because of a "thyroid condition." Amazing.

Not really? If you believe MLB, they said they found no evidence of wires/buzzers/devices worn during their investigation.

Part of the problem is league granted immunity to players for cooperating in investigation. They can’t really go back on that now
