2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

VERY. I answered for him. He like many others have no choice in the face of rabid leftwing ideologues and their loony constituencies.

That CA poll isn't particularly interesting unless you link preferred candidate to electable candidate. Even then, I think it tells the opposite story of what Nate Silver is saying.

The first column adds up to 88% meaning about 12% prefer marginal candidates or don't have a preference. The second column adds up to 74% with likely means 26% don't know who has the best chance of winning against Trump. That's the second highest behind Biden. If there was a strict definition of "electable" as white men, there wouldn't be 26% who just don't know.

The Biden bump is pretty easy to explain. He benefits from having near 100% name recognition and being the leader in the polls. So some people who support marginal candidates (which in terms of coverage is probably everybody but Biden, Bernie, Harris, and Beto) picked the most well-known candidate who leads the polls as the most electable. But only some. There's also been an enduring narrative that he would have beaten Trump if he had run in 2016.

Bernie has a pretty specific base who has been committed to the narrative that he would have beaten Trump in 2016.

Harris should be a little worried that she doesn't have more support in her home state and they generally don't think she can win. But I don't think it's that big of a deal.

It's laughable to think this is somehow good for Beto. He seems to be running on an RFK-like electability, but he's polling below Warren and Pete and very few people who support people polling behind him think he's the most likely to beat Trump.

Just because Biden and Bernie could doesn't mean they should. But I guess that's where we are these days.

For both Biden and Sanders, I think there is either a complete lack of awareness in how the Democratic Party demographics are moving into the future or their egos are so large that they think those changes don’t matter for them.

This just in! If your tired of being lower middle class poor, cough M&Ms cough, just write a best selling book and make a couple million. SIMPLE.

To whatamount's minimal credit, it is remarkably tone deaf to defend his finances because "everyone can write a best-selling book to become a millionaire like me"

Cool but that’s not exactly what he said. Not really worth arguing over... unless you want to revisit Pete’s “America has a lot to learn from Israel” comments.

Even if Bernie has made money off of his own views does that mean the views aren’t valid?

I’d wager any politician who has been around for decades is a millionaire.

Yeah. Being a politician opens up opportunities, even legit ones. People know who you are. That’s a big part of making money, establishing networks.

You seem #triggered.

Not triggered. If you want to make a million bucks selling socialism then I am all for it. If you want to actually implement it then we have a problem. Bernie is probably going to be cool retiring after his attempted 2020 run with his millions. As long as what he does up until that point doesn't get Trump re-elected then good on him.
