2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

There’s definitely enough people that despise trump enough to vote for anyone but trump and get the dem to 45%, I’d vote for a pet rock over that shit stain.

I’m wondering how many Hilliary voters are thinking, “ I’m just really impressed with how trump has conducted himself in office and Think that his policies are working out nicely . I’m voting for him in 2020”

I think there are maybe 10 if these people total in the entire country . So trump is going to have to thread the needle once again but this time he won’t have hilliary to kick around as a foil.

On another note, there will still be the 30% who say "I just don't think we are ready for a Woman president"...Then another 5-10% of racists...Then your republicans who would never vote for a Dem on a bet. If Bernie and his bros are pushed to the side again, I can see disgruntled socialists voting for Trump just a big FU to the establishment.

I've got to disagree there. I don't see any socialists ever voting for Trump. They may stay home, but they won't vote for him. That would be like Republicans voting for Bernie or AOC if she were old enough. Jesse Helms used to say that the Democrats could basically run a guy off the streets against him, and they'd get 45% of the vote right off the bat. He didn't care and won each time, but he had to fight tooth and nail to win every election, and his victories were nearly always in the 52-53% range. I don't see Trump getting even that. He may win, but if he does he'll either barely scrape a plurality in the popular vote, or he'll lose the popular vote and win the EC, as in 2016. He won't have the advantage of running against Hillary, who was the GOP's Wicked Witch for 25 years before the election, and Democrats won't be complacent this time.

I think Bernie has a contingent of supporters who aren't really "socialists." They just want to burn it all down.

I’m sad to say this is pretty good analysis.

I think Mayor Pete is the smartest person running, but there is a large contingent of America who won't vote for a gay president. That and he needs more time in politics. Democrats love people that check unique boxes, but they have to remember what is a majority in America and what is a minority. Actual and perceived similarities matter when people are voting. That is just how psychology works.

Nah, it’d be a higher percentage for Pubs (if they could be honest about it).

Agree with you, birdman and creamy on his point. I like Pete the most by far of the Dem contenders, but I wonder if he can beat Trump in the general. Especially given my belief that a Dem will likely have to win the popular vote by 5+% in order to win the EC.

The Brasky Block as it’s known

I wear that badge proudly.

That being said I've softened a little in my old age. Which is why I'm a Mayor Pete guy, who could be talked into a few other candidates. Sadly the fundamental changes we need aren't going to happen until the boomers die off, and they're spending trillions on meds to keep their parasitic selves alive forever. So I don't see real change coming anytime soon.

Its also why I think it would be a huge mistakes to nominate Biden or Bernie. Its time for the Democrats to regain their status as the party of the young. Not the geriatrics.

I think the only thing the Democrats need to think about is putting the most electable ticket together. Getting Trump out of office should be the one and only goal. Ideology, party of the young status, etc etc shouldn't even come into play. Get Trump out, then figure out the rest later.

^This. If nothing else, if Trump gets another term it's highly likely that he'll get to put at least one, and maybe two, more justices on the Supreme Court. Give the GOP a 6-3 or 7-2 hardcore right-wing majority, and everything is on the table for them.

Wait until the boomers make sure cryogenic chambers are covered by Medicare and their straight ticket Pub votes count in perpetuity.

So what is “electable?”

Wasting the next 4-8 years on business-as-usual Biden would be a travesty.

We need a president who is willing to decisively act through executive action until Dems are able to take the Senate back.
