2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

I'm not opposed to a wealthy person running or governing. Depends on their politics/person/etc.

I think Pete could beat Trump, agree it's a risky nomination. They all would be, just for different reasons.

I'm not sure we've tried a corporate executive. Trump's background seems more like corporate conman or sleazy huckster extraordinaire.

Pete could draw the youth vote but some older black people may stay home.

how about if you have a company named after yourself you shouldn't be allowed to run for president

Is there a pool of Trump haters who genuinely have no idea what the fuck to do if Elizabeth Warren is the nominee here, or am I on an island?

You vote for warren. Jesus, why is this even a question? It’s not like any of her “socialist” proposals are going to get through Congress anyway.

I'm inclined to disqualify any CEO until we instill firm rules about giving up your business ties when you take office.

I just don’t see Warren really making NC competitive and I disagree with all of her “big” proposals. Highly unlikely I vote for her despite really wanting to see Trump go.

Then you really don't want to see Trump go.

That's actually fair. It was fine as long as presidents abided by convention and gave up their business ties. But we can't have a president putting business ties, particularly international business ties, ahead of the needs of this country.

Right there with you -- I absolutely despise Trump, for real, hate that racist serial assaulter and rapist who is also a traitor to his country, a pathological liar, dumb as a pumpkin, lazy, and a career criminal, but not a big fan of some of Warren's proposed policies that have no chance of passing, so what do I possibly do? Real shoulder shrugger here, rock and a hard place. Going to have a heart to heart with Jesus. Also, I suck.

That is pitiful logic. I will vote for her if, come election time, it appears she has a legit shot at winning NC. I just don’t think that will be the case and if I am throwing away a vote I might as well try to vote for someone/something as opposed to having an anti-Trump vote misconstrued and/or mischaracterized as support for Warren.

You vote for Warren secure in the knowledge that Mitch is the king of obstruction and just rigged the court system with enough partisan stooges to derail pretty much her entire agenda.

Yeah, didn't HW Bush put everything he had in a blind trust? You did it because of the emoluments clause, it was the right thing to do and you didn't want to have any appearance of impropriety. That was the day.

Agree as to Warren. She's far from my 1st choice, but none of her big legislative proposals are getting through thanks to Moscow Mitch. She'll appoint good and qualified judges and make good EOs on issues like immigration and the environment. Not sure what she'll do when it comes to trade. But it's a no-brainer. It's also why I've maintained it mostly doesn't matter which Dem wins and gets in. They'll all be mostly fine on appointments and EOs and will get very little done legislatively. That said, we'll continue to savage each other in this forum over relatively small policy differences.
