2023-24 Wake Women's Basketball (7-24) - Signed 6-2 PF/C Kennedy Moore from Montana

It’s amazing that Currie and the AD staff were appeal to keep the team together especially Spear. Would have been helpful to get Morra to stay for another year but that was a lot to ask.

By the way, Morra is playing for SPAR Gran Canaria in the Spanish Women’s League but it looks like she’s on loan to an Italian team.

Lady Deacs lost to Mizzou 69-47. Summiel with 12/6. Spear with 2 pts.

Lady Deacs lost a tight game to Alabama 61-58. Hinds had 18/10. Spear had 16/7.

Probably. Alabama is 3-2 with two losses to 6-0 USF and #17 Utah.

Lady Deacs play Coastal Carolina tomorrow at 4:00 on ACC Network.

Lady Deacs up 27-11 at the end of the 1st. Spear getting hot with 11 pts on 3-4 shooting. Summiel on triple-double watch with 6/4/3 which would be pretty cool for multiple reasons. :)

Rough 2nd quarter capped off by Summiel fouling a 3-point shooter at the end of the half. Up 37-30. Spear with 17. We'll keep the triple-double watch on with 6/5/4.

Up 60-50 at the end of the 3rd. Spear with 23/3/4 on 6-8 from deep.

76-61 win. Spear with 30/3/4 on 7-9 from deep. They play 3-2 Minnesota Wednesday at 8:00 on the Big Ten Network in the Women's ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Lady Deacs at Minnesota just started on the Big Ten Network. Olympian, WNBA Champ, and recent HOF inductee Lindsay Whalen is Minnesota’s coach.

I just watched us miss the most wide open layup of all time. My god.

Lady Deacs up 10-5 at the end of the first. Both teams shooting horribly. Minnesota is 2-11. Wake is 4-17. Summiel and Harrison have 4 each. Spear is 1-7.

Minnesota up 27-23. Gophers had 9-0 run. Elise Williams scored the first 11 points of the quarter.

A nice 3rd Quarter put the Lady Deacs up 47-39. Spear got going with 11 in the quarter to lead all scorers with 15 and 8 boards to lead all players too.

Nice work getting a 2-for-1 to end the 2nd and 3rd.

Tight game. Up 59-57. Minn ball with 27.3 sec left.

Wake ball tied at 59 with 15.9 sec left.

Spear with a stepback three to take a 62-59 lead with 3 sec left. Could have been a 4 point play. Great shot.

Scruggs drew a pushoff from their best shooter on the sideline inbounds. Rarely see that get called.

Wake ball with 2.7 sec left. Commentators talking about how Spear said she was heavily recruited during the coaching change but decided she loved Wake too much to leave. Spear could be starting on a top 25 team right now. She had 19/10/3. Williams had 16 pts, 4 ast.

Wake wins on the road 63-59. Big win. Minnesota probably isn't that good of a team but beating a P5 team on the road is huge for this program.

The ACC is winning the Women's ACC-Big Ten Challenge 8-5. Good week for the league. The ACC has 4 teams in the top 12.

They sleepwalked through the 2nd and most of the 3rd quarter and poured it on in the 4th. Summiel with 11 and 16. Spear and Harris both had 14/5/1. Spear had her second buzzer beater of the season with a 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The other was to end the 3rd against Alabama:

Of course that was coming off her game-winner on Wednesday at Minnesota:

Here's the cinematic recap of the Minnesota win:

Lady Deacs are 6-3 going into the exam break. Next game is at Charlotte next Sunday at 2 pm on ESPN+.

In addition to being an impactful performer on the court for the women’s basketball team, Olivia Summiel has been an exemplary example of the Pro Humanitate spirit in the classroom and community during her time at Wake Forest.
