2023 College Football Coaching Carousel

UNC will have had an NFL QB each of the last five seasons; including a QB that will either go #1 or #2 or at worst #3 in the upcoming draft, at least 15 other players on their roster over the past 4 seasons that are currently in the NFL, and handful of other players on this roster that are expected to be drafted. Their best finish to any season was #18 in 2020. No other UNC team over the last five years finished the season ranked. UNC was unbeaten in the top 10, and they lost to a horrid UVA team at home, and then gave up 46 to GT in another loss. Not counting the win over Campbell, UNC finished the season 1-5. Again, with possibly the best QB in the nation.

I tell all my UNC friends, when they start jabbering about a top 10 consistent football program, that they do not realize what the other teams in the conference feel about them, they all want to beat UNC. Historically, UNC has 3 major rivals, UVA, Dook, State. They are not going to win all of those games, now add in Wake, Clemson, VPI, Georgia Tech, FSU, Pitt, Cuse, and BC and there are no off weeks for them and once they loose everybody smells blood and they have a hard row to hoe.

What’s their bowl streak like? Isn’t that what mattered most.

No one does less with more than UNC football generally and Mack Brown specifically. They've had their two best QBs in program history and really nothing to show for it except an ACCCG blowout loss and a loss in the Orange Bowl (and they were only in the OB because the ACC champion was in the CFP).

Mack has always been a top notch recruiter and was, for a time, a top tier coach who became a mediocre one as he got older and complacent at Texas. Now he's just old and needs to hang it up or run for Congress.

LSU cleaning house on the defensive side. Four assistants fired, including the DC.

So Kellly will have new coordinators on both sides of the ball next season.

Some schools just don’t have consistency of coaching staff that’s why they will never be successful.

Also look at Oklahoma, they just let go of Ted Roof.

Buzz getting louder that Harbaugh is going to the LV Raiders after the CFPCG.

Harbaugh played for the Raiders; his first coaching gig was with the Raiders, Harbaugh just hired the same agent that Brady has, and Brady has or will have an ownership stake in the Raiders. Harbaugh's wife is from Vegas. Apparently, Harbaugh really wants a Super Bowl. Probably kills him that his brother beat him.

Zac Alley would probably be the youngest poster on the board (he is from Charlotte, which has a river) and now he is the Co-DC at Oklahoma.

10-28 as the HC at GT. Does not appear that Collins has worked in football since GT fired him 2022:

Yeah, I'm not giving Collins a hard time for not taking a job this past season. I'm giving him a hard time for being a snake oil salesman who wears capri pants.

Collins is a good hire. Although, he won't fall directly under Geoff, This probably means Lonnie stays.
