2023 WF Baseball - Schedule Released

If WF wins its pod, which would mean beating State again and Miami, think WF would host a subregional. FWIW, State has to be a little nervous about getting a bid at this point. If they lose out, the Pack could be left out. Looked like they were on their way to winning the Natty last year, and some people had them as a darkhorse this year.

Maybe it’s just me.

Hard to think about road-grading State to end the regular season and drawing them in the first ACC tournament game and NOT think about

Robert O’Kelley
Josh Howard
Chris Paul

All road-grading NC State to finish the regular season and then imploding against them at the ACCT

Yeah, not because of ACC Basketball history, but just not jazzed about playing NC State after embarrassing them in Raleigh. Would rather play almost anyone else.

So Lowder has to go Monday right? Given that Miami would win any seed-based tiebreakers.

We don’t play on Monday. We basically have to win 2 to advance in all likelihood. I’m sure Lowder will pitch Tuesday. It actually works out pretty well for us as we have 2 off days in between. Even if we lose on Tuesday, Friday is a big resume building game.

State being on the bubble would certainly be a commonality with the latter two games as well

D1 baseball has us projected as the 2 in the Knoxville regional with Wofford as the 3. That would be….not fun.

Not really sure what this is from or based on but it has us as the favorites: https://twitter.com/statsowar/status/1528507709871443968?s=10&t=YlviSnLYyE5oSqWhklrDJA

That is not a joke, but it is really terrible modeling (ok, maybe it is an unintentional joke)

The fact that WF has to win 4 games while the top 4 seeds need to win 3 (ND at 4.7%…WF at 17.2%…) is the first clue

The other is that, while the sweep over NCSU was great, WF is 10-13-1 against the rest of the field. Run differential is nice but teams need to win games.

Yes the nature of the teams that advance the top four seeds should be significantly higher probability

Lowder on First Team. No other Deacs on first or second team. Kurtz and Tinsman on 3rd team.

That schedule poses an interesting dilemma. Go with Lowder, your best, on Tuesday and go with your number 2 guy on Friday in that "resume builder" game or, go with one of the other two guys with wins over NC State and save Lowder for Miami to have the better chance to win two this week?

Teddy McGraw has pitched as well as anyone the last few weeks.
