Banning Critical Race Theory

Not only did Critical Theory grow out of Marxism, it was an effort to improve Marxism. Now, that's Marxist.

Psychoanalysis did not grow out of Marxism but the Frankfurt School attempted to combine and blend Freud and Marx.

To what ever extent the New Criticism, the New Bibliography, Formalism, or Structuralism were informed by Critical Theory they were also informed by Marxism.

Perhaps you have noticed that Marxists argue and criticize not just non-Marxists but each other as well. Perhaps not.

Derrida started out as a Marxist. It would be difficult to say that this experience had no influence on his thought. A lot of the founders of post-modernism were Marxists.

Staying with your organic expression "grew out of", think of it like this: the branches of an oak tree are still oak, arent they?

Christians are Jewish?

You should re-read my post, especially the part where I was talking about how althusser, derrida, and Greenblatt used marxist thinking to reform critical theories that arose in opposition to Marxism. You've completely misunderstood that bit.

Your argument here is that everything "critical" is marxist which is not true. New Criticism, formalism, etc. are not informed by critical theory, they *are* critical theory.

It's like I'm watching an NFL playoff game and you keep shouting "THIS ISN'T FOOTBALL. FOOTBALL IS ONLY PLAYED WITH FEET!"

TX Gov. Abbott unveils a "parental bill of rights" which, among other things, will give parents, and not schools, the right to determine if their child will repeat a grade. He also claims that "pornography" is being made available to students and vows to fight it, but has yet to specify exactly what he means. BTW, Texas already has a "Parental Rights and Responsibilities" law in the Texas Education Code, and it's been there since 1995. Abbott, of course, is up for re-election this year.

A Virginia AP teacher posted this in the comments: "So if I’m an AP history teacher in VA and I do a class about redlining (in the context of the Fair Housing Act of 1966), or the GI Bill (and why African American veterans couldn’t benefit from many of its provisions), or racial exclusion in New Deal programs, did I do CRT? VA parents should worry that their kids are going to be at a profound disadvantage in a few years when they apply to college. If you can’t score better than a 3 on an AP test because half the unit reading was banned, you aren’t getting into Harvard. Even SCOTUS can’t help on that."

Pretty sure Republicans will just try to get rid of the AP exams.

what's wild is that if you go back to any point in this thread, junebug and jhmd are arguing that Republicans aren't doing exactly what they have since done

and these dolts still won't condemn their party's coordinated assault on knowledge, education, and history at every level of government

I couldn't teach any topic relevant to my research

It's easy when you hold yourself to the same standards you expect from others. One set of rules is liberating. You should try it sometime.

Keep in mind you are assuming W&B holds himself to standards when he's a fucking App St. grad.

Standards... Just like PhDeac teaching from a sub Top 100 university.

The Party of standards, indeed.

no surprise but drunk brad is even dumber than sober brad
