Basketball Recruiting Megathread 1.0 has run its course

Fwiw, from now on, I'll be negrepping anyone and everyone who uses this thread to debate Tony Woods.

This Scout article on Zena makes it sound like he wants to visit all of his final 6 this fall, but isn't sure if he'll have time to do that. So it's definitely a good sign we already have our visit scheduled. He's visiting USC the weekend before us, and Harvard the week after.

Given that he doesn't know if he'll make it to all, I'm surprised USC is being set this early.

I'm definitely concerned about Cal.

Hopefully, he'll commit during his visit to Wake.

You're deluding yourselves if you don't think losing Tony Woods wasn't a big loss on the court for us. We'd take him in a heartbeat if he was available to us in 2011 or 2012. Also, way too early to call him a disappointment. No one was calling him that in his last games in a Wake uniform. How many putback dunks did he have?
Our offense wouldn't have been much better with him because you can't run an offense through him in the post but he would've still been our best low post option and his garbage points were missed. His defensive presence has already been noted. This is a stupid discussion. He'd be a bright spot for us this year if he was still on our team- no question.

Of his 32mpg, I want to see Travis play 26-28 of them at SF. He's a matchup nightmare at that position.

Layman or Moto or White might be nice to have, but we neeed BIG.

Nice update Ish; thanks for posting. Here's Jank's rundown of his current top 5:

Jankovic, a versatile small forward who plays at Huntington Prep (W.Va.), gave a brief reason as to why each of his quintet made the list.

Wake Forest: “They’re my leader, first school to really recruit me hard.”

Purdue: “Great relationship with assistant coach Greg Gary. I like their system.”

Georgetown: “I have a great relationship with the coaching staff. I’ve visited before, enjoyed the campus.”

Florida State: “They’ve developed versatile players like me and coach [Leonard] Hamilton is a great coach.”

Missouri: “Showed me an unbelievable amount of love – both head coach [Frank] Haith and assistant coach [Tim] Fuller.”

With Wake Forest at the top of the list, Jankovic also said Georgetown was likely No. 5 out of the schools. “The other ones are in the mix for second,” he said.

Tough to project what's going through a kid's mind, but you gotta think that the Miami stuff can't help Haith and Missouri here. Knock them out with Georgetown, then we'd be his leader out of 3.

unless Frank Haith's idea of "showing him an unbelievable amount of love" is the same as it was for DeQuan Jones at Miami in which case Missouri may pull this one out

Maryland just landed Shaq Cleare. Good get for them.

Cleare looks like he could be a better (and bigger) Jordan Williams. We could have used someone like him badly.

That's a HUGE pick-up for MD.He's bigger, but Williams was really good.

Turgeon's ties to TX had to be a positive.

One more reason we need bulk in the post asap.

We are going to get freight trained in the ACC for the next 5 years unless we get on this. Like now.

(also, god I hate MD)

Nice catch:

Jeff [Redacted] looked into the future and saw the maturation process of point guard Codi Miller-McIntyre (Charlotte, N.C./Hargrave Military Academy) before anyone else caught on. The Demon Deacons sprinted out in front with Miller-McIntyre and accepted a commitment from him before most of their ACC brethren figured out who he was. In June, he was a breakout performer at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. Flanking Miller-McIntrye are two tall guys for their position. Andre Washington (Roanoke, Va./Catholic) is a long-range prospect for [Redacted] who will be swiftly escorted to the weight room in Winston-Salem. Aaron Rountree (Wilson, N.C./Greenfield) is cut from the Julian Wright mold of forwards. Not a scorer, but a facilitator and passer with excellent size, Rountree is the second in-stater Wake landed in the class.
