BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

He is a 2018 prospect. If you dive into him more, you will see he was 2017. Based on him going to liberty heights, I would suspect he is a post grad. If you watch the film on him, he does not look like he would be a scholarship player at wake.

Which is astonishing, because nearly EVERYONE looks good on their film.

WTF is up with that school ? The website has a video of SouthPark mall. No brick and mortar address.

It is one of those basketball degree factories that doesn’t get a lot of people attention. We play a few of those throughout the year. It is very similar to Westridge in kVille. Kids pay money and take online classes lol

I see a kid who could develop into a D1 role player but isn't yet ready. He looks like he knows how to use his body and definitely shows some hustle in his tapes. If Gregg Marshall wants him, I'm good with us taking him.

According to this page, Wynn played for them for two seasons. Aren't these generally places that guys only go for an extra year to qualify post high school?

Over half of our roster is already that. No thanks.

We need to take long shots on development players ranked 100-200, not players ranked 400+ who require two seasons at a fake high school in order to meet NCAA academic minimums at the very last minute.

Two years to develop into a High Major role player. Starts as a Junior. Goes pro in Turkey.

It was always in the cards for us to pick up another 2018 player or even two. One objective would be to have enough players if injuries strike. Another would be to positively impact our competitiveness. Ga tech is in the same boat. Staring a losing season right in the face.

Don't get the interest in this kid if it is even real. As for Lorng, I think he is Lorng gone

If we end up with injuries and need warm bodies, recruit some more walk-ons. No need to tie up scholarships on the Lorng's and Wynn's of the world who are highly unlikely to positively impact our competitiveness . It just ties the hand of our next coach...he'll either have to to tell them to take a hike or let them take up valuable scholarships.

65 McDonald’s All-Americans vs 4 is the difference, not some shooting drill. Geez.

You think 65 McDonald's All-Americans would have gone to Duke if Coach K wasn't there? You think if Danny Manning were coaching at Duke he would be able to get 65 McDonald's All-Americans? Good coaching=success, success brings in recruits, good recruits keep the train moving. Its all about momentum in college basketball, which starts with the right coaches. Perfect example is Villanova, Jay Wright got that train moving and now they are in line to become the next Duke.

Yup. Manning in total scramble mode.

Remember that article from a year or so ago (right after 2016/17 season maybe?), where Manning stated that the core roster was finally in great shape, and how they were in a position of looking more for complimentary type of players? Fast forward a year plus later, and it seems that the most important attribute for a Wake prospect is having a pulse.
