Exceptions /= rankings being suspect.I haven't posted one of my usual "rankings are suspect" factoids lately so I thought I'd share the following tidbit I noticed in an old ACC Handbook this morning. Heading into his Senior year of HS, Draymond Green was ranked #99. That same year, Ty Walker was #22. The rankings have no way of measuring a player's "want to" or the benefits of future coaching. Let's hope Massoud is more motivated than was Ty.
Exceptions /= rankings being suspect.
Someone eventually wins the lottery. That doesn't call into question the idea that the lottery is a long shot.
I get your point but the analogy is flawed. Player evaluation is not random as is the lottery. A crapshoot to an extent but some coaches are more consistently "lucky" than others.
Last time Kansas came to the Joel, they got destroyed. Some things never change.
That is one of my all time favorite games. That team was final 4 material. Not long after that game odom reigned them in and slowed the game down. Completely changed the dynamic and no longer played to the strengths of a team that destroyed kansas.
Highly regarded international prospect Yvan Ouedraogo has committed to Nebraska, a source told ESPN.
The 6-foot-9 Frenchman averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes per game at the FIBA Under-16 European Championship last summer. He is only 17 but will enroll at Nebraska this summer as a 2019 recruit after skipping a grade in elementary school.
Ouedraogo, originally from Bordeaux, plays at the esteemed INSEP Academy in Paris, where most of France's top basketball talent started over the years. Despite being a year young for his high school class, Ouedraogo's chiseled 240-pound frame, high intensity level and rebounding prowess should help him compete immediately for minutes in a Nebraska frontcourt that returns very little size.

Yeah, no thanks. Not taking any more chances with this shit show and that contract. Give me 7-24. Fuck it all. That’s it. I’m going all in here. I’m not going to badmouth the coaches, the team, or anything anymore. Might not be an ideal situation right now but this is the staff, this is the team, and I’m just going to support them. I think Danny should have been canned after this past year but he wasn’t. He’s still our coach so I’m going to support him. We give Manning crap on this board if he’s not getting top 50 recruits but then he gets a top 50 guy who signs but then leaves after a lackluster year. I’m going to suspend disbelief for a minute and imagine that Danny has realized that after being in the mix for top recruits multiple times maybe that formula doesn’t work for Wake right now. Maybe he needs to take a bunch of ragtag lower ranked guys and try to develop their skills over the course of a couple of years to get a team in a few years that is filled with skilled veterans who can outsmart the one and dones at Duke and Carolina. I’m going to give Danny the benefit of the doubt here and assume he has a long game strategy here. Maybe the fact that no players have transferred his year is a good sign? Hasn’t everyone on here admired the teams like Texas Tech and Virginia that have taken lower ranked players and developed them for a couple of years and then it led to success? That’s where Danny is going to take Wake. He’s our coach, this is our team. It’s time to support them no matter what. Go Deacs!
