I'd be very surprised if we got Mac if Brizzi would come to Wake. He'd have to beat out two veteran starters for PT.

Any idea why a starter on a 20 win Big Ten team would want to transfer?

He was a Crean recruit, who stayed to play for Archie Miller. IU fans are generally bummed as Smith was a solid contributor. Smith started, but their front court was pretty crowded. IU fans speculate that for Smith to have any NBA shot, he needs to play for a team that would feature him more. He is from Illinois. Speculation is that he will head to either DePaul, Illinois or UGA (to play for Crean). Apparently, Smith is athletic, a good defender, but has a limited offensive game.

A really solid player for IU, Justin Smith, is going to grad transfer. One year left. https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...ll-justin-smith-graduate-transfer/5243741002/

He averaged 10 and 5 for the hoosiers last year as a starter. 6.7 forward. He's from the Chicago area.

He is an academically smart dude. Academic All-B1G as a soph. His degree was from the IU business school.

He was a pretty good offensive rebounder, averaging about 2 O-rebounds per game.

We can feature him...as a center.

His stats would suggest that making threes was not a skill (26% on the season, 10/38). Overall, he shoots right around 50%, career and this past season. 70/104 FTs this season (67%). 62% career. His sophomore season was a down year. Most stats for that year are below his freshman and junior seasons.

He either is a really good defender or isn't using his fouls or isn't playing much defense. Averaging around 2 fouls per game (208 fouls, 98 games) with only two career DQ's.

Standing 6-7, 230 to have an NBA shot he needs to find a reliable three point shot. Not sure where he fits in today's game. Without the reliable outside shot, what position does he play? Maybe he is a good "glue guy" who cleans up the glass and get offensive rebound put backs. He certainly got minutes for IU last season (30 per game).

BBall Recruiting Thread 2k21 – Wake makes McClung final 7; Big news coming on Friday?

I like that logo he used for us.

He went old school for several of those. Did his homework.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen those A&M, Cincy, ODU, and VCU ones.

Still waiting for the "BIG NEWS" coming on Friday???:noidea:

No idea, but James Graham III is a 4-star now and we're one of four schools meeting with him in the next two weeks, so that's kind of big news.

Also, Justin Smith from Indiana is going to graduate and is looking to transfer to a program where he can increase his NBA exposure. I'm not sure if y'all remember, but he was a 2016 recruit and Mac Irvin Fire player who Manning was recruiting pretty hard during the Ayo days. Wake Forest has a lot of available post minutes and [phrase redacted] these days if the staff reaches out to him.

Wheeler plays for the same HS as did Travis McKie, FWIW.

It might be a fun back court to watch/might bring in more fans. But it probably won't happen I still maintain that, among other things, Manning did not recruit enough diversity...if people don't like that-T.S

lol is there a reason you are saying “diversity?” Is there a reason you’re not using more precise language?
