I've been having an interesting discussion with many close friends that are #BernieBros. I think the question below could have a material impact on the race and I am interested in the opinion of Bernie supporters.

Assume that Bernie does well this weekend, loses Michigan/Mississippi on the 8th, and gets killed in the huge states on the 15th. And he is down something like 1180 Hillary to 840 Bernie in pledged delegates the morning of 3/16. Which is insurmountable.

Bernie has 3 options:
1. Drop out
2. Keep going all the way to the convention trying his best to win delegates, continuing to get at Hillary for being establishment, emphasizing the need for an outsider, keep asking her to release Goldman transcripts etc.
3. Keep going all the way to the convention as a candidate but leave Hillary mostly alone (especially on things that are primary only issues like Goldman) and attack Trump all around the country. Similar to what Hillary did in '08 when she stopped going after Obama in May and focused on McCain.

If the race plays out as expected through March 15th: 1. What do you THINK Bernie will do? and 2. What do Bernie supporters WANT him to do?

I think he stays in until the convention and that's what I'd like him to do. I'd love to see him go after Hillary but I suspect when it becomes clear he has no chance of winning he'll back off and focus more on his message. I think that'll start to happen after he loses Michigan on March 8, or maybe the primaries on March 15.

If he can't win MA and be more competitive in states like MI, he's essentially done. Short of an indictment, Clinton is now inevitable. What he should want is veto power over certain cabinet appointments and care less about the plank at the convention. So much time gets put into haggling over the plank, but no one remembers what was in the plank come Sep-Oct. He doesn't care about foreign policy, so he leaves that to her. But he should care particularly about Treasury, Justice, Commerce, trade rep and Labor and maybe getting 1 of his buds in the council of economic advisors. He may not get people he necessarily favors in those positions, but he might be able to keep people he doesn't like out of those positions. That and get some policy concessions from Clinton. Like more Wall Street prosecutions - Obama wasn't as aggressive as he could have been in that area without having to spend a ton of political capital - Warren was right about this.

He won't drop out, nor should he. More like your choice #3 but more like continuing to harp on his issues rather than dumping on Trump. His fellow Pubs will be doing enough of that. So Bernie just stays on his message and doesn't attack Hillary.

I don't think he will drop out. Heard an interview on NPR before Super Tuesday (maybe even morning of) where he said he signed up to run for the democratic nomination in every state and wants to see it to the end - not just run in a few states and then leave the race.

I think that most Bernie supporters want him to stay in the race as long as possible. Similarly Bernie is still going to be able to shape the race moving forward even if Clinton has stopped talking about him, as he will keep the issues he has most prominently pushed on the forefront of many progressive voters who will compare his policy stances on these issues with Hillary.

New: @FoxNews' @BretBaier "will host a 1-hour Democratic presidential town hall exclusively with Sen. Bernie Sanders" on Monday at 6 PM/ET.

I also don't think he drops out. He has the money to take it to the summer and can get his message out there for longer.

To me, it is interesting because the core of Bernie Sanders campaign is campaign finance reform. The idea that politicians are influenced by the lobby and big money. And this leads to the disadvantaged not getting a fair shake (income inequality etc).

It's hard to stay on that message in a way that helps Hillary. I'll be interested to see what he does with his message. I think he truly believes in these issues but also will not want Donald Trump to be president.

I think he stays in accumulating delegates but mostly continuing to push his message. He has been very successful in getting Hillary to adopt most of his stump speech already so he will stay in and continue to try and move the Democratic Party to the left. Basically he will be trying to keep his voters engaged with the Democratic Party and less likely that folks like me will go and vote for Jill Stein in the Green Party.

I prefer it without context

I want him to stay in all the way. He's got the money to do it and his supporters are still fired up. Hopefully, Hillary will be indicted. I realize that is a long shot, but when the FBI starts giving immunity to elicit testimony, it's a sign that they are still serious about the matter.

There is one other thing that I wish he would do....stop waving his arms like he is conducting a symphony orchestra all the time when he speaks. For some reason, that has become very distracting to me. Don't know whether anyone else has noticed that, but it has gotten to the point that I am looking for it all the time whenever he speaks.

He is going to stay in all the way and he isn't going to attack Hillary either.

He's just here to send a message, and he knows he won't/can't beat Hillary.

He'd be an idiot to drop out before the FBI releases their findings concerning Hillary.

Hillary isn't going to be indicted.

Bernie will stay in for all the reasons stated above...and the dems need him to stay in as a plan B in the unlikely event Hilary gets taken down by the Feds. The Dems can still win with Bernie if Trump is the guy.

I don't think there is any way Bernie attacks Hilary, he is just trying to shape things for the better. He probably even becomes a strong Hilary supporter once her nomination is given. He already has come out and said Hilary on her worst day is better than any current potential republican nominees.
