Best James Bond Actor?

On her majesty's secret service might be my favorite, though lazenby wasn't much of a bond.

Connery was the best. I grew up on Moore, but he is a bit too flippant and by the end had become a joke. I think Craig is too humorless. He is basically everything that people hated about dalton, except even dalton had charm. Brosnan was too wimpy and his hair too perfect.

Faves would be aforementioned on her majesty's secret service. Connery-- Thunderball, From Russia With Love (edited...not sure why I had You Only Live Twice, though I do think that one is a top 10 Bond flick). Moore-- spy who loved me, man with the golden gun. Dalton-- living daylights. Brosnan-- the one with Michelle yeoh. Craig-- skyfall.

Worst bond films... Diamonds are forever, live and let die, moonraker, the world is not enough, quantum of solace

I re-watched Quantum of Solace last night (first time since theaters) - what a steaming pile of shit. I do like Daniel Craig, though.

Craig has also been the Bond for the more recent films where the darker side of Bond comes out. I don't think that's to be pinned on Craig, but rather the direction the series has taken (and notably, prompted from the books as well not merely directorial discretion).

I voted for Connery, but Moore was a close second.

Read that there was a large survey on this not long ago that your vote is directly related to who you grew up with as bond in your early teen years. Seems logical, as every 12 year old boy starts to like the hint of boobs, and who to like more than the dude that bags the ladies and can shoot a laser out of his shoe.

Connery is far and away the best. My favorite is Goldfinger with Oddjob being my favorite "villain".

Dang, 923 is finally wrong about something.

Can we start a separate poll with the Bond Girls? or has this been done? O/U for the :nopics: post set at 1.5 .

BTW I voted Roger Moore for two reasons:

Not sure how anyone can say anyone other than Connery, though Moore wasn't as bad as many make him out to be. Craig is the best of the recent Bonds.

Moore sucked. He was 007 when I was a kid and that's why I never got into Bond movies.

Yeah I have watched it since the theater just to see if my first impression was correct. It was. Just a mess of a film. Probably not the worst of all the bond films, but you could make a case for it being so at least from start to finish. Moonraker at least had a good villain and reasonable first half. Quantum is just so convoluted.

Quantum happened during/right after the writer's strike which I think contributed to its awfulness. I watched Skyfall last night again for the first time since seeing it in theatres and it's awesome.

The more I see of Craig, the more I appreciate dalton. Seriously, their dark and brooding bonds are nearly carbon copies, except that dalton has the occasional quip. Craig's act would be running thin by now if 2 of his movies hadn't been so good. One more quantum-like dud, and I'll be ready for a new bond.

Craig can't act. It's not a detriment to most Bonds, but it is to one they want to give actual emotions.

I don't know. I don't think you need a union writer to form a cohesive story, and I suspect the script was floating around for a while. Do they even use Hollywood writers for bond films?

I think Connery is the best Bond actor, though more of my favorites were done by Roger Moore. Favorites in Chronological order would be Goldfinger, Man with the Golden Gun, Octopussy, View to a Kill, Goldeneye and Skyfall. I'll admit that Octopussy and View to a Kill are not the best Bond movies, but they have the most nostalgia for me, having watched them on HBO dozens of times when I was a kid. To me, there are really only a couple sub-par movies through the entire Connery/Moore era. Dalton was really screwed over by a number of factors, not limited to a significant change in writing and the fact that everyone wanted Brosnan as Bond anyway. Brosnan himself was pretty good, though I think Goldeneye was the only great Bond film he did. I really disliked Casino Royale and completely skipped QoS, but Skyfall really surprised me and I'm looking forward to the next Bond movie because of it.

Casino Royale was pretty good. Quantum of Solace should have never been made.

A poll of Bond girls (with pics) should be done. Winner should be Ursula Andress in Dr. No. Best Bond movie was Moonraker.

it's kind of hard to differentiate the actor from the style of Bond. I really like Daniel Craig, but I also like the style. Connery is great but it's kind of a corny (different from Moore corny) Bond, IMO. i can't get over the 80s of Dalton and haven't seen OHMSS.

I used to think Brosnan was an awesome Bond but all his movies except Goldeneye sucked. I still think Goldeneye is a top 5 Bond movie.
