Boehner Calls on Senate Dems to 'Get Off Their Ass'

Probably. Once I saw the clip of him answering reporters' questions with "well if ifs and nuts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas" then responding to a question with a Bronx Cheer, I'd guess he's done.

Boehner finally did something right.

So what does it say when a leader does the right thing and only about a third of his followers do the same?

So who replaces Boehner? The Tea Party doesn't like McCarthy or Scalise any better. Louie Gohmert ran against Boehner and got exactly 3 votes, including his own. There are maybe 60 wingnut votes in the House. Not enough to remove Boehnor or get one of their own elected Speaker.

The GOP just really sucks at math. Nate Silver wasn't a witch, Cruz never had the votes to repeal Obamacare, they don't have the Senate votes to remove Obama via impeachment, they couldn't defund DHS, and they don't have the votes to replace Boehner. Their social policies are ridiculous enough as is, but the kamikaze pointless votes are embarrassing.

Can't be good at math when you're constantly waging a war on education can you? Would be pretty ironic at least.

Here's the problem:

Democrats, and independents who lean Democratic, tend to say that they don't want candidates of the Democratic Party to become either more or less liberal than they are now. 49% want them to remain about the same, while only 26% want Democratic candidates to become more liberal. 10% want Democratic candidates to become less liberal.

Among Republicans and Republican leaning independents, however, 46% want their candidates to become more conservative. 32% say that they want the candidates to stay about the same, while 13% want them to be less conservative.

...

Asked whether each party had become more ideologically exteme in recent years, the broader public tend to think that Democrats, not Republicans, have moved further away from the center ground. 42% of Americans, including 21% of Democrats, think that the Democratic Party has become more liberal in the past few years. 33% say it has remained the same while only 7% think it has become less liberal.

When it comes to the Republican Party, Americans are effectively split as to whether they have become more conservative (30%) or remained the same (28%) in recent years, while 19% think that Republicans have become less conservative.

...

Republicans tend to think that the party has remained the same (46%) in recent years, but a third (32%) do think that the party has become less conservative in recent years.

Republicans are so good at the war of words game. They define the narrative and the facts get lost in the muck.

They've always been better than the Dems at playing politics but that hasn't been true over the past few years IMO. They've let their hate of Obama completely obfuscate all their other goals.

To me, they simply cannot stand the fact that a black man is running things in this country. That's what has gridlocked Washington for the last 6 years. Pubs will never admit this publically, but down here in SC they will.

I think cville said it best. The last 6 years have shown America wasn't ready for a black president. Half of Americans dragged the other half kicking and screaming into the next stage of American multiculturalism and they've been fighting it every step of the way.

The misogyny if Hillary is elected will be nuts.

The misogyny when she was a first lady who did something other than wear pearls and smile at official dinners was nuts.

Still can't believe Boehner tried to hammer through a bill if McConnell hadn't explicitly told him he'd abolish the filibuster. Even if that did happen, they'd need a constitutional amendment to get rid of the veto. Keystone got 8 Dem votes to get to 62, but still 5 votes short. What issues will get 67 votes over Obama's objections?
