Boehner Calls on Senate Dems to 'Get Off Their Ass'

So the GOP declared victory in November, had grand ideas of sticking it to Obama and passing all kinds of conservative legislation....and now they can't even get out of their own way to take any kind of political advantage. That's a special kind of inept right there.

Kinda amazes me that Boehner takes all the heat and McConnell skates. They both cooked up this scheme with full knowledge that the GOP wouldn't have 60 votes in the Senate and that he wouldn't nuke the filibuster either. McConnell's thrown Boehner under the bus and he's not taking any heat. Boehner's getting pounded by conservatives. He's not too bright and is a glutton for punishment.

This is exactly what we knew would happen. The GOP is only unified in opposing anything Obama does while moaning loudly about fringe issues of the day. Meanwhile they can't govern because they don't have any coherent plan (and haven't for quite some time now) and they have a weak leader with an insurgent right wing group who is more interested in winning their own elections, waxing poetically about Ayn Rand, and being obstructionist in the name of pure ideology than governing.

The GOP taking control f both chambers was a gift for democrats leading up to 2016.

I saw Boehner on Face the nation on Sunday and he still maintains that this is all on the WH and if they would stop overstepping their boundaries on immigration everything would be fine. However John Dickerson pointed out that Boehner cannot keep his troops in line for a vote even though they have the majority. I think Boehner's response was its hard to control a "wild jungle of constituents".

Personally I think Boehner ought to resign rather than put up with this bullshit from the tea party. I mean what is to be gained if they lose the presidency in 2016.

They think they're going to win in 2016.

Even if the GOP does win the White House in 2016, which landmark legislation does Boehner want to push through? Obama care repeal? Privatize social security? Medicare repeal?

They think they're going to win in 2016.

If all you did was watch Fox News, read the Drudge Report, and listen to Sean Hannity, your bubble of reality would make you think that.

Boehner should resign, and the Republicans should appoint a tea party member as speaker. Let them lose the 2016 election after they've been in a position of power and accomplished nothing.

The Clintons are about as close to the Republican Party (the one before the TP took it over) as you can get and still be Democrats. They are just owned by a different set of corporate interests regarding fiscal policies and a little more moderate on social issues....but the old "Rockefeller Republican GOP" wasn't really that bad on social issues, either. That all changed before the TP got started when the Religious Right decided to get involved in politics with its tax-free dollars.

Calling the Clintons "liberal" is a joke.

FOX NEWS: BREAKING: HILLARY CLINTON IS A COMMIE SOCIALIST

Welp, I guess the Senate got off its ass and Boehner had to get off the dime. http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/02/politics/dhs-shutdown-john-boehner-house-vote/index.html

Republican House Speaker John Boehner, who rarely casts votes, backed the bill, along with his top lieutenants. A majority of House Republicans opposed the bill. Just 75 GOP lawmakers joined with 182 Democrats to push it across the finish line. The legislation does nothing to rein in Obama's immigration executive orders -- a top priority of conservatives. That issue was a sticking point for weeks as Republicans tried to tie DHS funding to the repeal of the orders but the party couldn't overcome Democratic filibusters in the Senate.

Boehner is finished?
