Indeed. No need to bother arguing whether Wake will even be in consideration for this minor of minor tournaments.

Though it doesn't look like Wake's record will be good enough to qualify for the CBI (Thanks, Ron!), it would have been good for the young core of the team to get some more experience.
Davidson played in the CBI two years ago with a team that was mostly sophomores and freshmen. They had been knocked out in the first round of the SoCon Tournament both that year and the year before, so the core of the team hadn't had any kind of tournament success at all. Davidson ponied up the dough to host a game in the CBI, and absolutely destroyed a pretty good James Madison team in that game. They then went and played Creighton tough at Creighton in a loss. McKillop essentially sat the few seniors on the squad for both of those games and used the whole thing as a building experience for the next season (in which Davidson went 19-2 in conference, winning the SoCon and going to the NCAAs).
With a young team, the more games, the better.

Right now the removal of Buzz ASAP is more important for this team than any post-season experience. In fact it's more important than anything else for our basketball program and our fans.

Of course we'd take it, and Wellman would tote it as a sign of progress that we made postseason play to all of the idiots that don't know what the CBI is.

Is the tourney one and done? If so, I guess the underclassmen would get one more game.
