Seemed like a pretty cool commercial to me, and they got approval from Dr. King's estate, per your article. :noidea:

From the "exclusive licensor" of the intellectual property of his estate, not from his widow, daughter, or the King Center, who did not approve. Probably some complicated family dynamics involved -- I think one of his sons is involved with the Intellectual Property licensing. In the same speech, as I linked, he pretty clearly explains what he thinks of commercialism, so to use text from that sermon, I thought was in poor taste.

But you can see how it misrepresented the speech.

They almost certainly got approval from Dexter.

I'm sure MLK estate received financial considerations from Dodge, which is their right to do.

That being said I also thought the commercial was gross and openly mocked it at the SB party I attended.

Loved the dirty dancing commercial with Eli

I listened to a bunch of Janet scorchers instead of watching the halftime show.

I don't think that i've really liked a half time show since the Prince one like 10 years ago. Tom Petty was decent. Someday we're going to get the Kanye/Jay-Z/Rihanna half time show that we deserve.

A medley of: Big Pimpin/Otis/Ni**as in Paris/Run This Town/Dont Stop The Music/Disturbia/Touch The Sky/All The Lights/Part 2

bruno mars wasn't bad

I think the halftime show comes down to personal expectations.

My bar is a modicum of entertainment - the only one in the last five that I didn't care for was Coldplay. Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and JT were all entertaining and somewhat memorable.
