Chicago Cubs Thread - Playoff Push Pending

Tonight is a must win. If we're down 3-1 we will see Kershaw game 5 then again in relief game 7 if it goes that far.

Yeah this has the same feeling as the Mets series did last year.

Hill was locating his pitches well last night and was able to keep the ball down in the zone. Fooled our hitters a few times. Hopefully we can get the bats awake tonight for the 20 year old.

Eh, the Cubs can beat these guys. Surely tonight is an opportunity, and that levels things up with home field advantage. Don't quit yet.

Still a lot of time in the postseason left, but this is a good reminder that postseason baseball is a complete crapshoot.

The best team hardly ever wins the World Series, and this very well could be another case of it. It sucks and it feels like the world hates the Cubbies, but that's just the reality of it.

We are facing better pitchers on a nightly basis than we did throughout the year, and are currently on one of the coldest streaks of the year.

Really sucks that it's happening now, but postseason baseball is a really a shitty way to determine the champion after a 162 game sample size.

Was actually thinking about it driving to work this morning (especially given the negative nature of fanhood as it relates to the Cubs in general) and if the Cubs lose, all four major sports over the last year had a runaway regular season "winner" and none of them would have won the title. Warriors, Capitals, Panthers, Cubs.

And all of that can change with one swing of the bat. If they had gotten to Hill early last night, this entire series changes, and they were one pitch away from doing it.

While I gladly would have taken it, it didn't surprise me that Jake didn't answer Kershaw's work last night. This isn't 2015 Jake and we all know it. Tonight is a new night, and all of the conditions for a big inning are present. Several guys are due to break out. If this kid comes in and shuts them down for the third time in a row, well, feel free to shut it down. The odds are against that, for a number of reasons, and the entire dynamic shifts if this thing goes 2-2.

Tar Heels.

We just need John Lackey to do what we brought him here to do---win in the postseason.

If he can't beat the youngest pitcher in the postseason ever then we deserve to lose.

+1

eta: While that's #bigiftrue, no way this happens. John Manuel said he'd been texting with scouts through the day and said the consensus was the Cubs still take this thing. If you quit now, don't bother coming to the e-parade. I believing the bats come out tonight against the overgrown teenager.

Ah, so Mark took the boys out last night and explained to them the healing powers possessed by only a SLUMP BUSTER
