Chicago Cubs Thread - Playoff Push Pending

Whatever happened to the Cubs tv deal with WGN, which now televises the AAA White Sox games? Cubs demand too much $? Regular season down to one game with Montgomery on the hill. No television. It has been a long time since the Cubs were not in first place.

I think wgn didn't even attempt to bid on the Cubs games, Fox Sports got the deal, with some other station getting a few games.

MLB TV is your friend, I bought it for like $40 on the Father's Day deal, was a great purchase. Haven't missed many games this year.

Cubs have this setup about as perfect as they can. Q today on full rest - Lester would be on full rest if needed tomorrow and Hendricks would be on full rest Game 1. The Brewers are starting Chacin on short rest, and if they lose today will likely have to do a bullpen game tomorrow.

Lets go Cubs.

Chacin is normal rest, he went Wednesday. I was surprised it was as much of a debate as it was in terms of them going with him since he'd been so good lately

Agreed- a loss today is not nearly as bad as a normal setup- obviously don't want to get into an elimination game tomorrow but at least it would be at home, with their best pitcher, against a team that plays today and will have to fly half way across the country. And then should they win, they have a day off, have only a 1 1/2 hour bus ride, with perhaps their hottest pitcher going in front of an away crowd that would have a decent amount of Cubs fans.

Man, outside pitch called a strike on Schwarbs, then a check swing called a strike - should have been 3-0, instead it was 1-2. He struck on looking on a great pitch, but he should have already walked.

Fieldin Culbreth has earned the nickname "Hollywood" for the balance of the game. Brewer fans gain a measure of revenge with their attendance at today's game.

8 hits to 2 so far - feels like the kind of game the Cubs win in the 9th

ETA: upon further review...

Not sure why you dont just let Rosario pitch to Braun. I know he hits lefties well, but Kintzler has been horrid this year.

Speaking of horrid, here's Jaime Garcia.

Agree on Rosario/Kintzler. Minus Morrow, Strop and a struggling Edwards there isn't much left in the bullpen and it appears that there will be a game at Wrigley tomorrow.

Hard to win when you aren't scoring runs.

Got the at bats we wanted - Riz was about 10 feet short. Had a couple decent pops today, JHey looked like he had one too.

Oh well, tomorrow it is.

Brewers did earn it. Good season, great stretch drive. Front office went all in all year and it paid off. At present, the best the Cubs can hope for is the opportunity to play them Thursday in Milwaukee.
