I Believe that's why he said it, too, but I also believe he understands that from a technical perspective, he wasn't going to get too much recoil from gun rights people on that one because who has an AK47. Had he said AR15 in that statement, there would have been an uproar. AK47 is a pretty non-controversial gun to bring into a restrictions conversation.
