Covid-19 - Treatments & Vaccines

I would absolutely ask the dentist if that is the belief at that practice. If so my money goes elsewhere.

Seems like a bad idea to cause trouble with someone who puts metal tools in my mouth. Especially when I like my dentist.

It helps that he’s one of the few NC dentists who isn’t a UNC grad.

I don't think a dental hygienist is a medical professional any more than the wonderful lady that comes through my clinic at night to clean.

You should have told him that his hygienist was spreading vaccine disinformation and that it is reckless.

[h=1]Florida requests 300 ventilators from federal government as COVID cases keep rising[/h]

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday that he was not aware of such a request when asked about it.

Wonder if he’s aware of this…

“The nurses, the physicians, they have passed burnout a long time ago,” said Dr. Joshua Lenchus, Broward Health’s chief medical officer. “This is sheer exhaustion”

Back of napkin calculation suggests 1 in 5 total hospital beds on FL is occupied by a Covid-19 patient….?

Dental hygienists are technicians. Unfortunately, we live in a world where too many jobs are being called more important than they really are. Hence, a Google search will show plenty of references to hygienists as professionals.

"Medical authorities do not agree as to the reasons for the persistence of the plague in the Ottoman Empire. It seems clear, however, that an important contributing factor was the refusal of Ottoman officials to adopt the preventive measures developed in the West. For the devout Moslem Turk an epidemic was an act of God. He was convinced that his days were numbered by Divine Providence. Accordingly, he regarded quarantine precautions as superfluous and even sinful. And in doing so he was neither stupid nor apathetic; he was simply religious."

ah so DeSantis is employing the classic Republican ploy that is so commonly used by his fellow Floridian Marco Rubio in not seeing the tweet

Religious some, ignorant most. Why is it always the devil who wants to inoculate? Maybe god planted the knowledge into man to discover vaccinations to beat the devil!!!!

For some folks, God works mainly through miraculous or un"natural" channels. Often requiring "faith" (or "faithfulness") on the part of people to do so. Beliefs that are good if "against" conventional or common thinking. Even better if contra the arrogant "elites" of society.

Yeah, it's sad. And mostly about power or power insecurity. And why a large portion of "conservative" Christians are vulnerable to a highly degenerate modern Republicanism.

Yo Highland - Any updated tweets today from Derenic Byrd?

The governor's EO in FL didn't ban the wearing of masks in schools. It simply left the decision in the hands of the parents.

Any parent who wishes to send his or her child to school wearing a mask is free to do so. And any parent has the ability to opt out and send their child to school without a mask.

When you actually look at the data (instead of misinformation and activism - two pillars of the Tunnels), the EO makes sense. There have been 8 COVID deaths in FL for children under 16 which is a mortality rate of 0.2 out of every 100,000 of population or 0.00020%.

[angus]FUCKING A. We're going to ask millions of kids to wear a mask, just to save 8 of them? What kind of disguised socialism is this? FUCK those kids AMIRITE? There's no reason for anyone to experience any discomfort when only a few kids are dying. Get back to me when we kill a kid that MATTERS to someone.[/angus]

Even if your stats are correct, you conveniently ignore the fact that kids seem to be more impacted by the Delta variant, which has really only taken root in the US since the school year ended. It's completely unreasonable to believe that this low death rate will continue once school is back in session and they're all interacting with dozens of kids daily, instead of just hanging about at home.

I'd call you a worthless piece of shit, but that's not actually true. Worthless pieces of shit don't actually harm anyone. You, however, are actively doing the devil's work here on earth. Think about that - based on the bullshit that you spew and complete lack of care for your fellow man, I actually believe that you are a tool of Satan.

Angus people, also what the fuck.

My wife is a teacher in a school district with 1) no mask mandate and more critically, 2) no requirement to stay away from school if exposed to Covid-19

We have a medically fragile individual in our house; we're all vaccinated, but concerned about the delta variant

My wife is taking leave for 12 weeks, at least

all that said - sure, a mask mandate is better than no masks, but with 1,000 kids eating two meals a day in a poorly ventilated school, I'm more concerned with #2 above than #1
