COVID Thread 2: Operation Ludicrous Speed ! (Super Political!!!)

Money used to trickle down because the law didn’t allow wealthy to hoard as much of it. Republicans changed those laws to lower taxes and create more ways to hoard money.

The numbers in Los Angeles starting to get scary. The hospitalized patients just consistently go up 200-300 per day, every day, for like a month straight. We have very good reporting and data at least.

Looked again, it does seem to be peaking. Past week it only went up 100 some days. Hopefully Christmas didn't just blow everything up 2 weeks from now.

FWIW, hospitalizations have been wonky for the past week because of fewer facilitates reporting their numbers over the holiday.

I've seen local news outlets celebrating a ~1% decrease in hospitalized patients, but not realizing that only 89% of hospitals were reporting for that day. Really irresponsible reporting, IMO.

At least in NC, it's been a very steady rise.

If it’s already being spread in the wild, Dustin Hoffman from Outbreak probably couldn’t trace the source with the help of Poirot and Batman.

Guess that was his last rodeo.

https://www.military.com/daily-news...pe-korea-us-falls-short-of-year-end-goal.html

Factors ranging from snowstorms and holidays to poor coordination with the states led to the U.S. falling nearly 18 million doses short of its year-end goal of having 20 million Americans vaccinated against COVID-19, the general overseeing the distribution effort said Wednesday.

About 20 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna two-dose vaccines have been produced and are available, and 14 million doses have been delivered to the states, but only about 2.1 million Americans have received the shots, said Gen. Gus Perna, the chief operating officer of Operation Warp Speed.

So it seems like we’d have been better off letting the free market decide who gets the vaccine
