I always had great Uber experiences until recently when my driver asked me what I did for a living and then proceeded to ask me about alienation of affection and tell me how he hadn't had "relations" with his wife in 7 years. So awkward.

Imagine how attentive to your every whim and desire he would have been if you had simply given yourself to him

meh

so uber is cheaper in ever city if you actually tip.

i take ubers and cabs and buses and sidecars and bikes whatever is clever. generally speaking, uber is more convenient than a cab in sf. they also drive less like fucking idiots. as a biker, i kinda prfer cabs though as they are more well signed so i expect them to tandomly stop and throw the flashers on.

Went on my 2nd Uber on my birthday last Friday and I requested some Muse and boom, listened to Muse on the whole rest of the trip. Technology, man.

i never said it didn't make sense, i said it solved a problem that didn't exist

i'm all for cheaper cabs and #marketdecisions and #deregulation and all that nonsense, don't get me wrong

this is idiotic. the problem absolutely existed.

The best thing about Uber (to me) is that you know how far the driver is from you and the eta.

kids wanna be so hard
but in my dreams we're still running and screaming through the yard
all of the walls they built in the 70s finally fall
all of the houses they built the 70s finally fall
it meant nothing at all

ok

i get it from an SF perspective where everything needs to be DISRUPTED but i don't look at cabs and say man what a fuckup that industry is

uber is a fine product, i don't have an issue with it, it just doesn't really offer me benefits

just my perspective

a narrow one, apparently.

i've never taken uber and can't recall the last time i took a cab. i don't know if i realized you're supposed to tip cab drivers. maybe if they get your bulky bags out for you? but if you're just going from a-b with no luggage, why would you tip them?

the sky just completely erupted

wild to watch a storm like this from the 15th floor

tornado warnings again in SE PA

guess i'll wait a bit to walk home

i get if they give you a great rec or find your lost phone, but why would you tip a server if they just take your order and bring out your food?

Did you somehow completely avoid hopping in a cab and paying attention as to what happened when you got out during your college years?

median cab driver salary is 30k, and uber is like 47k so

#towniewaswrong

I don't think Townie understands how much taxis SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED in a large majority of Amerian cities before Uber arrived.

Pre-Uber if you called a dispatcher in either Austin, Winston, Charleston or Charlotte (my personal experiences obvi) and asked them to have a cab at your place in 30 mins, they'd either have a cab show up in 10 mins or an hour later. Never at the actual time requested. And the taxi driver that showed up in 10 mins would get all butthurt that you weren't rushing down to meet him even though he was 20 mins early.

That alone is why having uber and lyft around is so great. They don't get away with that shit anymore.
