The guy was a bad hire on day 1. His press conference was weird. He's not an on your feet thinker....he's not dumb...he can game plan...but he's not quick either. The game gets away from him. I remember last year (and the year before) I kept screaming "call timeout!!!" at my TV...as the team would literally disintegrate on the floor....Manning just can't keep up. How long are we stuck with him? Two more years while Wellman focuses on facilities and let's the actual program burn to the ground?
The year Manning led us to the NCAA tournament and finished as a top 40 team 3 years into rebuilding from the lowest point (basketball wise) the program has ever seen? And you are worried about his timeout calling ability? I swear in some alternate reality y’all are all Carolina fans calling for Roy Williams to be fired every time they lose a game.
I think even big picture folks like myself are concerned because the team is not playing nearly to their potential and Manning is the fall guy for that. As he should be.
However, rebuilding progress is not always linear. I'm hoping Manning can use this year to improve as a head coach in difficult circumstances, and that he is more prepared to coach next year's team as a result.
I am supremely frustrated by the team's performance so far this season. I'd really like to see Manning tinker around with lineups and defenses instead of continuing to pound a square peg into a round hole. I get that he loves the idea of a 4-guard lineup because it gets his perceived 4 best players on the court, but that is mitigated by the fact that your 4th best guard playing at PF (extreme example) is not maximizing that player's utility and skillset.
And TT is not one it seems to take advantage of the free throw opportunities either.

I’m not sure this first part is correct. Imo, we don’t have an overly talented team. Crawford and Chaundee are the main ones that are great players on our team. Key is good offensively and atrocious defensively. Doral has been pretty good when he stays out of foul trouble. Thompson is really bad. Chill is an okay back up pg, Wilby is a role player maybe on a good team. Sarr, Mitchell, and Eggleston need to progress quickly. Defense from the 3 and 4 (I’m counting Key as the 3 since Chaundee will start at SG next season) and offensive production from the 4 and 5 are the main issues on this team.

I’m not saying we have Top 25 talent, but we should be a hell of a lot better than 1-4 given the teams we’ve played. That’s all I’m saying with the first part.
This is a fine argument and line of excuses when it comes to our (probable) eventual losses to VT or GT, maybe our team is not talented enough and our front court is waaay too inexperienced for ACC play. But, FFS, Drake, Liberty, etc.? We don't have the talent to compete with those teams?
