F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

Talk about disingenuous. No one is claiming that Americans are inherently more violent that citizens of other nationalities. But it is undeniable that the proliferation of guns makes policing in the United States exponentially more dangerous than in other countries. Our LEOs have to have the ability to fight fire with fire, otherwise, we are just sending them to their deaths.

Yeah, about that proliferation of guns. Strange how a bunch of white guys can dress up like video game terrorists and storm a legislative building with assault rifles, with no repercussions, while black males are regularly gunned down based on a police officer's subjective feeling of fear that they might have a gun. It's almost like it's not actually about the guns.

You keep telling yourself that it's all OK if it helps you sleep better at night. Good to know that don't think police abuse of american citizens is any big deal because, hey, the coronavirus and the flu and traffic accidents kill more people.

Anyone else miss Lectro on here to tell us some made up lies about how this guy had lock picking tools on his person, or was casing empty houses to steal the copper wiring or some other racist dumb shit?

Also, Junebug - you're intentionally being an absolute fuckstick on this thread. Your sense of humanity needs a serious recalibration.

Lectro would definitely be posting that picture of Armaud checking out a home under construction.

It does seem inevitable that in a society saturated with firearms, police will of necessity carry and use their own against citizens they feel are a legitimate threat to their own safety or the safety of others.

Sure. But when people who worship 2A also think "I thought he had a gun" is justification for the state actors to kill people, it's not just about guns.

It's pretty telling that a guy who got e-worked up for months about the prospect of unelected, unaccountable judges with lifetime appointments recognizing the right of people to get married has no problem with unelected police officers violating the rights of Americans, including the right to live, generally without any accountability - in fact, according to his casual research, 90% of such abuses are perfectly legal. Conservative selective outrage is always amusing.

Good point. The police would never allow black people to carry arms in protest.

That picture has gotten a lot of mileage over the past couple days on the typical pro gun, conservative Reddit feeds. You’d think if it was a more common occurrence there would be more pictures like it but that’s been the one picture shared around.

As is liberal. If only police officers could be demoted, fired, sued, or jailed, then there would be some real accountability.

Also, I believe the word you are looking for is "creating," not "recognizing."

Are you suggesting that they are on any sort of regular basis?

This is pretty much the John Roberts court in a nutshell. Big on theories that empower the establishment (police can be held accountable, no corruption unless there's a clear quid pro quo, states won't suppress minority voters, corporations are people), not interested in the real lives led by real Americans who suffer from majoritarian discrimination. Have to protect these precious theories at all costs, but protecting actual people from discrimination and the violation of their rights is tyrannical judicial overreach.

Yep, cops and prosecutors should be above the law! They should be able to do whatever they want to whomever they want to shoot or put in jail!

BTW, Junebug, have you gotten a restraining order against your shadow? After all, he's following you everywhere.

Does real accountability require public outcry (after media reporting, videos surface etc)? Asking for a friend.

The Atlantic vs. National Review. What a showdown here on OGBoards!

Wrong house plus...

The officers were looking for a suspect who lived in a different part of the city and was already in police custody after he was arrested earlier.

Great police work.

Good grief.

What's to defend? Seems like a clear case of plain clothed police being in the wrong place at the wrong time and forcing their way into a home and blindly opening fire because their lives were in jeopardy. They aren't deep staters. Just average cops in a department not talking to each other. Pretty sure standard procedure is to go in guns a blazin'. Nothing to see here.

Dude- this is just 1 person. COVID has killed like 80K. Police are doing fine work.

The militarization and corruption of our police force is absolutely disgusting. The entire policing model in this country needs to be revamped, additional training in an inherently awful system is not going to fix the problem.

We need to greatly reduce the police force, change the mentality to focus on public safety. Not how to maximize revenues and budgeting in order to get that awesome military grade SWAT car to police stokes fucking county or some shit.

Only way to fix it is to get the authoritarian dipshits out of policing.
