F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

I think this is the thread where we talked about the Central Park Bird watching incident. It started a whole black birders movement via Facebook and Twitter. Christian Cooper seems like a really good dude and he has now written a graphic novel:

Owning the libs like 2016 isn’t enough anymore. In 2020 they deserve to be beaten, gassed and shot (if “necessary”)

Which was almost certainly inevitable. When the thrill of just trolling libs on social media wears off, you have to up the ante to keep the thrills going.

Well the ones telling you you can't sit down and enjoy a meal at a restaurant anymore pretty much deserve it

Stop trying to make birders happen.

Anti-Police Protesters Yell ‘We Hope They Die’ Outside Hospital Where Wounded Deputies Were Taken

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – After two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were wounded in an unprovoked ambush-style shooting in Compton, an anti-police protest unfolded outside the hospital where both were taken for treatment.

Deputies responded to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, Calif. on Saturday evening where protesters converged outside of the emergency room with some yelling, “We hope they die.”

“To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling ‘We hope they die’ referring to 2 LA Sheriff’s ambushed today in #Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL,” the sheriff’s department tweeted. “People’s lives are at stake when ambulances can’t get through.” That tweet has since been removed.

As deputies issued a dispersal order to the protesters, who were blocking the hospital emergency entrance and exits, one of the male protesters refused to comply and cooperate, according to deputies.

“During his arrest, a struggle ensued at which time a female adult ran towards the deputies, ignored repeated commands to stay back as they struggled with the male and interfered with the arrest,” the sheriff’s department tweeted.

“The female adult, who was later identified as a member of the press, did not identify herself as press and later admitted she did not have proper press credentials on her person,” the department further said via Twitter.

The female adult has since been identified as KPCC radio reporter Josie Huang pushed back on Twitter after she was released from custody saying she was wearing a press lanyard while reporting outside the hospital and suffered injuries during her arrest.

The shooting unfolded around 7 p.m. as the deputies sat in their patrol car at a Metro rail station. Both deputies are listed in critical condition.

Funny considering your boy trump actually killed people when he chose not to take action against the coronavirus he knew was coming and deadly.

The bolded part is a rather egregious lie, as demonstrated by her tweet that appears a few posts earlier. FWIW, there didn't seem to be much of a protest when either arrest was happening.

I heard Rev. Sharpton condemn the people who ambushed the deputies and blocked the hospital, but both sides, huh?

Just found out that the father of the kid who wrote the paper was actually shot 5 years ago in an incident that led to the shooter being killed. He didn't write about that. No wonder my boy is going through all sorts of emotional turmoil right now. By extension, it's gotta be crazy fucked up to grow up in general right now.

Social and political views on race have evolved considerably over the last four years. It's been pretty amazing. We're at a trajectory point between the rise of fascism and real hope for change.

Id say real change often requires this strong push back from what once was and a bubbling over to a tipping point, just then depends on which way things tip.

Yeah. We're seeing a strong push for facism and a strong push to recognize structural racism that includes smaller groups pushing hard for police abolition, anti-racism, anti-facism, pro-democracy, etc reforms. Obviously we're at demographic tipping points in a worldwide pandemic that is quickly become a national pandemic.

It's easy to dismiss the "performative" but four years ago, NFL broadcasts wouldn't even show players kneeling for the anthem. Now they openly discuss who is kneeling and who isn't and why. Players are encouraged to make their own statements. And "End Racism" is getting the same endzone treatment as fighting cancer.

Very sorry to hear about your student along with many others dealing with similar issues as children of LEO's.
