Facebook Gold from Crazies

Lol well that would directly impact their employment, which we have heard should be kept separate from protests when in the workplace.

That's all up to the employer. If they are cool with it, then go for it. If they aren't cool with it, then it becomes a pretty valiant protest on his part.

When the flag is on my Budweiser can I'm spitting my Skoal into, is that about the military too? #important

Saw this going around my feed a lot this weekend:

It's easy to see why there is so much division in the country just by witnessing this thread.

yeah, for educated people to be having such a hard time understanding why protesting the national anthem makes sense... not shocking for the rest of the USA to be quite divided.

and those are all incorrect interpretations

This may be the dumbest statement in the history of these boards. Congrats. It is a protest, so it is inherently designed to elicit an emotional response, that is its sole point. If it elicits an unintended response from the viewer then that is a poor strategy choice by the protester, not the protestee.

The last two or three tweets in this thread note that no where in the flag code does it say that you are required to stand during presentation of the colors, and that sitting or kneeling are not prohibited.

But players should just refuse to play for parts of the game instead. That's more relevant to police brutality.

[Kaep, other guys kneel]
Idiots: He's protesting the flag and the military !
Kaep, others: No, we're protesting police brutality and racial inequality
[Kaep, other guys continue to kneel]

It is a more direct message, absolutely.

Basically, I'm not going to play for your entertainment unless you fix these issues.

So why the need for the kneel during the flag in the first place if not to elicit a response? Why not just talk about how police brutality and racial inequality should be fixed?

Clearly that would not have reached as many people as this has, hence why it was done to reach large amounts of people and have the biggest impact.

Yes! Yes, exactly. Why can't we all just use our words. The powerful majority in this country has always done a great job of openly listening and reacting positively to those kinds of things. :plos:

eye roll.

2&2 isn't completely wrong, the kneeling started and still stands for inequality and protest but yesterday the new people kneeling were in protest to trump and his attack on those that previously kneeled. However anyone that thinks it's some monstrous disrespectful thing to the country and military probably has the America fuck yeah white washed history of this country being touched by God that can do no wrong ohh and is an ultimate rube.

I mean trumps comments basically solidify him as a 70 year old Facebook meme poster. The other part that is being glossed over is the fuck safety the NFL sucks now because they somewhat care about the players health.

In case 2&2 doesn't get the sarcasm, these protest are directly because words haven't been effective so far.

because it's a highly visible time to get your message across and because you're doing it during a song that's supposed to symbolize equality for all

Yeah, I haven't seen much coverage of this, except in the response from the players' union. Pretty effed up.

These protests haven't been effective either, which is my point. What have these protests done to improve police brutality? Not a goddamn thing. All they have done is cause arguments like this over honoring the flag and military and respect and OWGs, and now mostly Trump. I'm not arguing their right to protest, so long as the NFL is cool with it then go right ahead, it doesn't bother me. My point is that they have been misguided and ineffective protests with respect to their intended message.

The arguments are being caused by people who refuse to see the protestors' position and/or don't think the things the protestors are protesting actually exist in this country.

Think you'll ever hear Trump or Hannity say something like "I know there's a lot of issues with the police and racial inequality but let's talk about it in a different setting"?

Are you questioning whether or not they're having an effect on police brutality ? If so, they're having their desired effect. You're thinking about police brutality.
