The smaller ones are barely tolerable. The big ones are just flat out retarded. You see somebody with big holes in their ears and you know that they are fucked up in some major way.

Had a friend of the family who got into all sorts of body modifications--gauged ears, branding, implants, tattoos. Ended up getting his life together and a real job but first had to surgically repair his ears and remove the implants (bars and beads). Life got real when he hit 25 and couldn't find a job that paid more than minimum wage despite having an associates degree.
