Gelo Orange earns US Citizenship

I'll never forget walking through the MLK building in Atlanta where the immigration courts used to be located and seeing for the first time the faces of those taking the oath of citizenship.

These people had genuine expressions of "this is the greatest moment of my life." It's a feeling you can't replicate and one that reminds you of just how many Americans take their citizenship for granted.

I think you can appreciate it more when you've lived enough to know what it is you're getting.

Weren't there rumors that Gelo was transferring? Apparently either that changed or I'm just way off - either way, I'm glad!

After taking that test, he now knows more about United States history than the average born citizen.

Thirty-eight percent of Americans failed the citizenship test in a recent survey by Newsweek; sadly, I would have guessed the results would be even worse than that:
