Is there still a communist party in the US? I mean, I live in the People's Republic of Cville as we're known in the VA General Assembly, and I've never met a communist. I kinda figured any we had left moved to Cuba because they're into working on 1950s cars.

Not really. There are a handful of socialist "parties," though they are more like sects and not particularly influential.

Why don't you share with us pictures of all these billboards? Twenty would be a good start. I just spent three weeks in Alabama and did not see one. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I've lived in and have traveled through the the southeastern US for thirty-five years. I've never seen one pro-KKK billboard. You'd think if they were along country roads all over the southeastern US I would have come across one in thirty-five years. Just this weekend we drove from Atlanta to the north Georgia mountains. We're talking Hall, Habersham, and Rabun counties. Deliverance was filmed here. You'd think we'd see a couple. Nope.

But I will be looking for some on the way home.

I don't have pictures but I've seen billboards for "Sons of Confederate Veterans" in Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Missouri, and South Carolina. While they claim to be distinct from the KKK, Sin Fein also claimed to be district from the IRA for awhile too. They represent the same zeit geist, i.e., white supremacy and nationalism.

As if the communist party has made any of these in roads.

While the KKK and David Duke's friends have a history of white supremecy, racism and even lynching and murder, the very small American communist movement has been a net positive on society in America. For example, they helped in the fight for things like racial equality in the work place and allowing workers to unionize and murdered no one in the process. Stop associating American communists with Stalin, and recognize that David Duke was the leader of a racist organization with long history of lynching and other violence.

Both KKK and Communist are irrelevant fringe groups but I would be willing to bet there are orders of magnitudes more communist than KKK people. I have never seen such a sign or met anyone willing to admit any association with these groups. I have spent all of my adult life in the southeast.

I've seen one on I-75 in either southern Georgia or northern Florida, I can't remember exactly where but it somewhere between Valdosta and Lake City, it is nestled in with all the Asian Spa billboards on that stretch of highway so you probably missed that one. I've seen one in Missouri on route 73 just north of a town called Buffalo, about 45 minutes south of Lake of the Ozarks. No pictures because it is not safe to use your phone or camera while driving, but I am not a liar and I'm not dumb as hell either.

This current discussion started because someone posted a query as to why the media goes crazy when David Duke endorses Trump, but no one seems to care when the leader of the communist party endorses Clinton. The succeeding discussion was mostly focused on the relative problem white supremacy vs communism presents to american society...but now an off hand comment about widespread white supremacist billboards all over the south (which I have personally seen and given you the approximate locations of three of them, making me some sort of lying dumb mellliannal) is the focus. Way to have constructive conversation. Entering a discussion that you obviously don't understand and then slinging insults about people's intelligence is very helpful. It fits your baby boomer sensibilities though.
