Girlfriend's Birthday

Go to an antique store and pick up an old bracelet/necklace for like $40, bake cake then PIITB.

Taking the gf for a weekend camping/fishing for her birthday. Hope she likes it (she's into those things).

seriously...aint nothing wrong with box cake.

I always had valentines, my girlfriend's birthday, and our anniversary within a month stretch so I got to run the gift gauntlet once a year.

Last year during that time, I knew I was going to propose sometime in the spring/summer so I decided to get her gifts that I would also enjoy in the not too far future. She ended up with a 32 inch Samsung TV and a 48000 BTU grill from Lowes.

With that said, I say you make her a really nice dinner and send her some flowers. Can't go wrong with that plan.

Every year, I have V-Day, Mom's b-day, wife's b-day in a 10 day stretch. Then after a break, I have the sister's b-day, anniversary, Mother's day gauntlet. This year, we just decided to chill out on gifts and do something nice as a family or together to celebrate. Of course, I wasn't a complete idiot. I hedged and got her a nice necklace for our anniversary.

Is it really that hard to bake a cake? And as a regular dinner cooker, I understand that a guy cooking dinner for a special occasion is nice, but if he was any good at cooking, shouldn't he be cooking dinner regularly?

well cooking dinner on the regular doesn't mean cooking her a NICE dinner. something fancy or her favorite food, table set nicely, candles etc.

My GF's birthday is this weekend, so I got a room at a casino in Atlantic City and invited a couple friends to celebrate. It's a little more than $100 but she's going to love it (it's a surprise). She actually guessed Phillies tickets, and I said no way, that would be more of a present for myself.

Buy a nice picture frame or set of frames and put pictures of the two of you in it. Girls eat that shit up.

I'm awful at giving g/f's gifts. Just terrible. The one thing I did well recently though, is I went to her favorite dress shop and bought her a dress to wear that night and took her out to her favorite (guilty pleasure) place to eat. Think I got out of that night for less than $250.

Funfetti. For real. Best cake ever.

I have no idea what to tell you about a gift. I got a heart rate monitor for my birthday this year; last year we went camping. Personally, I wouldn't like a spa certificate. Depends on your girl.

Humor me. What's a NICE dinner cooked by a guy?

"nice" for my guy would 100% mean something grilled.

My go to is a seared scallop appetizer followed by herb encrusted filet mignon with sides of garlic roasted mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. Dessert is either chocolate souffle or creme broulee.

There might be a salad.

This is with a nicely set table and candles.

baking from scratch is serious sh*t, especially a cake (cake + frosting) which is why the idea of a baked anything is taken as a nice gesture.

which is why box mixes are so money
