Good bourbon

Yes...all of the special releases will probably be gone. You might get lucky, but I wouldn't expect it. If you go to Four Roses make sure you pick up their gift shop barrel proof selection.
 
Definitely plan on going to Four Roses. My top choices are Four Roses, Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill.

Anybody ever tried Jack Rudy bitters? I had a couple of Manhattans the other night at a friends and this is what he was using. It seemed to make a difference.

Wandered into ABC store in Wake County around noon today after a meeting...they had just gotten a delivery and stocked the shelves. They had just put out a case of the Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project Release #15. One bottle from each barrel. I really hesitated to buy one ($56 for 375ml) but after reading the link below and having the pick of the litter, I took home #149. They had also set out a case of Stagg Jr, release #3 for $49. While the first two Stagg Jr releases did not get great reviews, this one seems to be faring much better and since anything out of the ordinary is impossible to get in NC I picked that up as well.

Buddy of mine called this evening and there was only one Single Oak left after 8 hours...but fortunately for him, it was barrel 181, perhaps the second best of the release and he got it.

Place in Austin is doing two days of Pappy tasting -- whiskey flights on the 26th and the 27th. Limited to 32 flights per session for $50.

1) 10yr, 12yr, 15yr, 20yr
2) 10yr, 12yr, 20yr, 23yr

Apparently they did this last year, and somebody broke in and stole several pallets or something and fucked up the tasting.
 
Are you guys having the Makers shortage again? There's basically none in Maryland from what I can tell, but no news on the internet.

I'm a huge High West fan. I really like the Bourye and the Double Rye. The 16 and 21 years are good, but are a little pricey. They also sell pre-made barrel aged manhattans which are a lot better than I expected since I'm not usually a fan of pre-made drinks. Their white/silver whiskey, however, is atrocious. Just nasty. But luckily most of the bars I frequent around town carry some form of High West.

Picked up a bottle of Campfire. It was very good. I'm going to have to try some other High West bottles.
