Despite no evidence of the rumored resignation today, several of the insider types are still posting - buzz is still gone. In this thread, please post the reason why you guys are still so confident (other than the obvious dumpster fire we saw over the last 4 years).

Yes.

Oh... a reason. Because he has lost the people with the fat, fat wallets.

[Redacted]’s Crowning Accomplishments at Wake Forest:
• Won over 40% of all games (49 career victories)
• Won over 20% of his conference games (16 career conference victories)
• Won over 10% of all games in February & March (6 late-season victories)
• Won over 5% of his conference road games (2 conference road victories)
• Finished top 10 in the ACC in 2 of his 4 seasons
• Potentially could finish with a winning overall record in 1 of his 4 seasons
• Won at least 1 conference game in every season
• Never lost a game in the NCAA Tournament
• 4th winningest coach in Wake Forest Men’s Basketball history (modern era, since 1985)
• 2nd winningest Wake Forest Men’s Basketball Coach during my undergraduate years (2008-2012)
• Recorded wins over 10 of 14 conference opponents

From the Thank You, Jeff [Redacted] thread's OP (http://www.ogboards.com/forums/showthread.php/21321-Thank-You-Jeff-[Redacted]!). He's gone. Tonight's was still only Wake's second win in its last nine games.

Fire Grobe, Hire Clawson....McCreary donates 7 mill to the football program.

Ron knows what he needs to do.

On campus hoops stadium?

Not a chance. Already have a near campus basketball arean right at the near campus football stadium and the near campus baseball stadium with the best parking in all of America.

Just when I was beginning to dare to hope that he will be gone, this happens. It's the Miami game from last year all over again. Tonight Ron Wellman is laughing his ass off. And tomorrow he will be preparing to renew Buzz's contract.
Facepalm

By any metric, this season was by far the best of [Redacted]’s four at Wake Forest, with a chance to improve, however slightly, on last season’s 6-12 ACC record. Even with a win at Miami on Friday, the Demon Deacons will still be playing on Wednesday in Greensboro, the Day of Irrelevance for the bottom six teams of a 15-team ACC.

[Redacted] may or may not be around for it. As the students danced in the middle of the floor, the Wake Forest players and assistant coaches waded into the fray. [Redacted], finished with the handshake line, followed Duke’s players down the visiting tunnel and exited the floor immediately, never once looking back.

I think that sums it up. I hope so.

to ronnie wellman that win validated he is the smartest guy in the room. He thought that was what he was getting by hiring bzz. Most of us know bzz gets that occasional win when it does not matter. He does not know how to do it consistently. Also the players win in spite of Bzz on occasion.

The players credited Bz for motivating them so give the guy credit. He's probably a good coach in a lot of ways and what we saw last night is probably what Ron thought he was getting with the hire....but Bz just can't motivate kids consistently. The wrong personality and too little time to over come it given the college turnover. Time to move on....unless by some miracle he wins out and does really well in the ACCT because the team finally plays as a team (ie Dan's take). Don't see that happening.

If he was a good coach, his record would be better.

Good coach and "good coach in a lot of ways but can't motivate" are obviously not the same thing. Not sure why you read it as if they are. Issues?

If the team played with the same fire and passion that it displayed last night every game this conversation would not be happening, we have four years proof that it will not happen with enough regularity to matter.

Yes.

Ron knows that he conned the "fat wallet" crowd once (culture BS) and I bet this win gives him the balls to try and con them again. I really don't think his ego will let him admit he was/is wrong...if there is even a sliver of hope that he can be proven right, he will take it and in his mind, this gives him that sliver.

Bzzz will be back if we are competitive against Miami and in the ACCT. The only way he isn't back is if we get boat raced vs. Miami and against what ever other bottom feeder we play in the tourney.
