So basically, UNC doesn't ask for a reinstatement, so the NCAA goes away and doesn't investigate. So none of this blows back on the school. That's basically what they did in football as well. They fired or got rid of everyone (coaches, tutors, etc) who could talk and the NCAA is left without any means of pursuing the case. Seems like an easy little work around.
