James only had five points but eight rebounds. Looked good that he started but they must really be thin up front.
 
Tayshaun Prince was hurt and they needed someone big and athletic enough to guard Melo, so he got the start over Mike Miller. With all the Grizzlies injury problems as well as their general lack of team athleticism there is a big opportunity for JJ in Memphis the next month or two.
 
He had a pretty rough start defensively -- 4 fouls in 13 minutes (!) -- but settled in the second half and was decent overall on the boards.
 
Doing a lot better tonight -late in 2nd qtr has 9 pts, 4 boards, 2 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal in 19 mins. Hope he can continue that level and stick around ......
 
James Johnson -- a 6-foot-9 forward who the Grizzlies signed last week from the D-League -- once again received extensive playing time. He started his second straight game and played 33 minutes, contributing nine points, five rebounds, four blocks and a constant stream of energy.

He swatted Hayward's 3-point attempt into the seats just before the end of the first quarter and jammed Jefferson's layup attempt back in his face in the third quarter. Both blocks received huge cheers from the bench.

The Grizzlies need all the energy they can get these days while trying to weather a steady stream of injuries. Tayshaun Prince sat out a third straight game because of a sore left knee.

Good stuff. Hope he finds a home. Really enjoyed watching him play at Wake, especially the stretch where he was a force while the rest of our team was crumbling.
 
Feel like he still has Gerald Wallace like potential. Plays good defense, rebounds well, can hit 3 and pull up J. Oh and he's argueably the most athletic forward to come through Wake since Howard.

JJ has 11 pts 3 steals at the half tonight against the Rockets.
 
Off topic but worth noting.
Teague scored career high 34 pts and dished 14 assts while hitting the game winner in OT tonight.
 
Looks like he's slimmed down a little?

Love me some James Johnson. Hope he finds a long-term home.
 
The commentators were saying good things abt him yesterday. Talked abt his athleticism, size, and can knock down the occassioanlly 3.
