KP Report on Western Carolina Catamounts 7 pm Tuesday - ACC Network

None of those losses were even in the same ballpark as HBU. Or this Western Carolina game.

Tiers.

Yeah the only ballpark loss in the last 15 years is Stetson (300th) and then Arizona State in 2012 (230th - although we did lose that one by 28 somehow).

Western is 324th - so bottom 30 team in the nation.

Losing by double digits to Western Carolina would create such an uproar it would force Hatch/Wellman's lazy-ass hands to take their thumbs out from their butts and fire him immediately.

Just curious - how accurate was that Stetson ranking of 300? IIRC that game was the first of the season, what did they end up at that year?

Does it really matter is they ended up 250 or something, it was a terrible loss?

There would be no uproar because no one cares anymore. Ron Wellman's legacy.

Rose Ball is either a Ron Wellman burner account or Danny Manning's BBW side piece. Always positive in the comment section, yet joined twitter in March 2018 and has a suspicious number after her name.

300 is where they ended. They were 298 when they played us. Got as "good" as 271 and bottomed out at 311.

ETA: So my comparison above is this year's current rank compared to where other teams finished the season in prior years.

When the game was played on November 12, 2011 (it was the opener), Stetson was #298. The Hatters were consistent. They finished the year at #300. Stetson's rating peaked at #271. It also dropped as low as #311.

HBU was #297 when they played WF. They now sit at #279. Different levels of essentially the same suckitude.

And whoops missed 253rd Presbyterian above. So many terrible losses it's hard to keep track.

I don't remember that game at all. Then I looked it up and I was at the loss to Dayton the day before. It was the tournament at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports.

I only remembered it because people were cautiously optimistic after we played Dayton close (lol) then we just got absolutely torched.

Although to be fair (and I have no idea if they had injuries or just flat out sucked), Arizona State was 129 when we played them before bottoming out at 247 before they upset Arizona in the season finale.

Worst loss by year since 2011 (final ranking of the team that vanquished WF):

2011 - Stetson #300
2012 - AZ State #230
2013 - VT #169
2014 - BC #142
2015 - VT #175 (in the ACC Tournament!)
2016 - Richmond #99
2017 - Cuse #55
2018 - Liberty #184
2019 - HBU #279 (current ranking)

Looks like WF is heading to year like 2011 - 8-24 (1-15 ACC)

Mediocre teams (and WF has been mediocre a lot) don't lose to teams ranked above #200

Yeah, we lost a fairly close game to a good Dayton team didn't we and then got our doors blown off by Zona State?

I believe that Wake's loss to Stetson is the worst loss in the ACC in 15 years by rank of opposing team. Georgia Tech lost to Grambling last year but they were "only" 295.

Could you do that for the Skip and Dino teams?

KP's database goes back to 2002:

2002 - Clemson #132
2003 - UVA #82 (WF ACC regular season champs)
2004 - UVA #66
2005 - FSU #102 (WF ACC runner up)
2006 - GT #103
2007 - South Florida #150
2008 - State #110
2009 - VT #98
2010 - William and Mary #107 (do not recall that game)

Dino's first year as HC was 2008. [] started in 2011.

According to KenPom they ended the season exactly at 300.

Thanks - that's helpful for context. I didn't realize we were using final rankings but that makes the data even better and more meaningful.
