Tomorrow at the Joel, the ACC leading Tigers tip-off against our 2nd place Deacs.

Here is a link to the previous scouting report on Clemson; as detailed in the link, Brad Brownell owns WF:

CLEMSON 14 WINS - WF 2 WINS

15-3 (7-0) #54 Clemson Update
: The Tigers head into Tuesday with a two-game lead in the ACC standings at 7-0. Clemson is 3-0 on the ACC road with a 12 point win at NC State and a win at VT. In their most recent game, Clemson grabbed a 72-64 home win over struggling Duke. Clemson dominated the 2nd half against the Devils 42-30. The Tigers beat the Blue Devils despite shooting only 18% from three (3 of 17). So, they can beat solid teams without their "A" game.

KP now projects Clemson and UVA to tie for the ACC Regular Season crown at 15-5; KP also projects WF to finish the regular season in 8th place at 11-9. Those projections would change with a WF win tomorrow.

Clemson/WF ACC Analytic Ranks (conference games only):

Offense:

Efficiency: Clemson 108.8 (#5) - WF 111.9 (#1)
Effective FG%: Clemson 53.1 (#3) - WF 55.8 (#1)
FT Rate: Clemson 37.9 (#1) - WF 33% (#5)
3 PT%: Clemson 34% (#6) - WF 41% (#1)
2 PT%: Clemson 52.3 (#3) - WF 51.8% (# 5)
FT%: Clemson 86% (#1) - WF 71.6% (#11)

Defense:

Efficiency: Clemson 94.1 (#1) - WF 106 (#10)
Effective FG%: Clemson 42.8% (#1) -WF 54.3% (#13)
TO%: Clemson 15% (#12) - WF 20.4% (#2)
3 PT%: Clemson 30% (#2) - WF 33.9% (#10)
2 PT%: Clemson 41% (#1) - WF 56.9% (DFL)

Team Analytics (National Rank)
Bench Minutes: Clemson 31% #195 - WF 27% #287
Experience: Clemson 1.98 years #165 - WF 2.49 years #65
Height: Clemson 77.6 inches #94 - WF 78 inches #52

Lineup update:
Clemson 3 PT specialist Alex Hemenway (12 points 4 for 6 from 3 in the December win over WF) has missed the last 6 games with planter fasciitis. His status for tomorrow' game is in doubt. Update on the Clemson starters:

Hunter Tyson has developed from a limited bench piece to an all-ACC player. 128 "O" rating. 16 points and 10 boards a game. 43% from 3. Complete player unreal development in 5 years under Brownell.
PJ Hall continues to produce in limited minutes. Against WF, Hall had 21 points in 22 minutes. Against Duke, Hall scored 26 points in 27 minutes. Can't stop him down low, and now he can shoot the 3 (41%).
Brevin Galloway was awful for BC last year, but has been solid for the Tigers 10 ppg and he's 2nd on the Tigers in assists. Scored 17 points in the win over Duke.
Ian Schieffelin has quickly developed as a valuable front-court piece; against Duke: 36 minutes, 6 points, 7 boards, 6 assists and no TOs
Chase Hunter: solid PG; leads Clemson in assists; 40% from 3; 83% from the line

Projection: KP projects a 76-75 WF win in 70 possessions; Torvik projects 79-75 WF win.

Biggest Clemson/WF basketball game since January 17 2009, when undefeated 16-0 top 5 ranked Clemson played undefeated 16-0 top 5 ranked WF (WF ascended to #1 in the polls after beating Clemson 78-68; don't ask how that season finished for either team). While WF won't ascend to #1 in the nation with a win tomorrow, a win would put WF a game out of 1st in the ACC and would further build WF's NCAAT resume.

While Clemson has owned WF for more than a decade, this is a great spot for the Deacs as Clemson is coming off a big win over Duke, and Alex Hemenway will likely miss another game for the Tigers.

This is also an irresistible force v. immovable object game as WF's #1 ACC offense goes against Clemson's #1 ACC defense. WF had it's worst offensive game of the season at Clemson six weeks ago as WF scored 57 points in 72 possession (.78 ppp).

That was then and this is now. WF is riding an offensive wave as the Deacs have become increasingly efficient on offense with each game. As good as Clemson is defensively, WF will find far more success on offense tomorrow night.

For years, Brownell's Clemson teams played super-slow (between 58 and 66 possession per game each year for Brownell's 12 seasons at Clemson). This team is different. This is Clemson's highest tempo team ever (68.5 possessions per game), and they play even faster in ACC play (70 possessions per game #3 in the ACC). WF's plays at the highest tempo in ACC (just over 70 possessions per game). So, rather than a slog, this game will likely feature more scoring.

Clemson is good. Brownell has found a winning formula. Even so, think tomorrow is WF's night. As previously mentioned, WF has been incredible at home under Forbes over the last two years (26-2). This is a revenge spot for WF and let-down spot for Clemson. Like WF as long as the line doesn't creep over WF minus 3. Also, would lean over if the total is under 150. WF basketball is now worth the late nights..... even on a Tuesday.

We owe them in a big way. Hope we are ready to make a statement tomorrow.

Why isn't this game on ACC Network?
To maximize revenue, the ACC has committed to selling a certain number of games to the Regional Sports networks. This isn't the NFL where the networks can move games around as the season goes on. The TV schedule is set before the season started, and neither Clemson or WF were expected to be particularly good this year. Same thing happened last Saturday when Miami played a key game at State (which ended up as an exciting game). State was not expected to be as good as they have played; so, Bally's and related 2nd tier outlets got a good game. It happens.

Why isn't this game on ACC Network?

because God hates Wake Forest, and John Swofford hates you

looks like the ACCN is showing:

9:00 "ACC Traditions: NC State"
9:30 "ACC Legends: 1990 Georgia Tech Basketball"
10:00 "Twice as Nice - the Legend of Charlie Ward"

Fuck Bally's.
Good thing for us that live in the NY tv footprint is the Nets are playing on YES (NY's RSN) at the same time so we will be able to watch on the ESPN App. That means even those with streaming services instead of cable can watch. For others such as those in the Carolinas I'll find a stream and drop the link in here once the game starts, but hopefully most in the Triad won't need stream since they'll be there in person.

If anybody wants to attend this game I have 4 tickets to give away in the lower bowl. First come first serve. So important to pack at least the downstairs for games like this.

Why did Forbes say we are a “Non - NIL” program for basketball in todays presser? What’s the deal? I thought we do have NIL?

He means we don't pay recruits the way Kansas paid $400k to Jamari McDowell (a senior in high school) to commit to KU instead of Wake Forest. We have a program to help athletes explore actual NIL, but we don't stretch the definition of NIL to include direct payments to recruits in exchange for their enrollment at Wake Forest the way so many other schools do. He's complained at length about how he is handcuffed in recruiting because every recruit we develop a great relationship has been stolen at the last second by a school dropping cash. Has happened once with Tennessee, once with Bama, and once with Kansas with three quys experts said we were the leader in the clubhouse with before the money was dropped. Forbes had a pretty good rant about it over the summer, but as people in the recruiting thread might tell you, I don't know what I'm talking about and nobody is paying recruits.

Kinda surprised in harsh ABC NC you can offer all you can drink specials. Still don’t think you can even offer happy hours.
