Men's Golf: We just signed a rising 9th Grader

finally some wake grads produced some successful athletes. nice job.

I love this quote:

Smith said he patterns his game after Luke Donald and Adam Scott. His long-term goal is to play at Wake Forest. That’s not because the Deacons’ program has produced such golf stars such as Arnold Palmer, Jay Haas, Curtis Strange and Webb Simpson. He said it’s because his parents, Scott and Granice Smith, are both Wake Forest grads.

Crap, now we are stuck with JH for another 10 years.

With the recruiting class we have coming in this fall, we were gonna be stuck with him for at least a few more anyway.

We are freaking loaded for the next few years.

Smith’s second round featured six birdies (including three in a row). And after finishing with a third-round 69, his 9-under 207 total was good enough to edge Ryggs Johnston of Libby, Mont., by a stroke for the title.

The other kid must be great as well.

Skott and Granice Smith are some good Deacs right there.

Two current Deacs cruising in the first match play round of the US Am.

Sophomore Will Zalatoris qualified out of the medal round, and just won his first round match 5 and 4.
Incoming frosh Cameron Young also qualified out of the medal round and he leads his first round match 3 up through 12.

Having two players in the final 32 of the US am is a very good sign for next year's team.

Sweet! Hope they give me an excuse to watch FOX's coverage this weekend. Go Deacs!

Young just won 3 and 2.... Two Deacs in the Final 32. Think that they play both the 2nd and 3rd round tomorrow.

Needs to be appreciated that Young knocked out last year's US Amateur champ today.

Didn't realize that. Pretty impressive...
